Re: How do you know you love your T-bird

I know I had to have one when I went to the Detroit Auto Show a couple years before the Tbird came out and they had a yellow one on display as soon as you walked in. I stayed at that display for 2 1/2 hours and then went home, I did not even look at another car. On the way home all I could think about was that Yellow retro bird and then I passed my exit , I then knew I had to have one . 162,000 miles later I am still hooked.

I catch myself driving past storefront windows and looking at Silver Bird's reflection in the glass.

Our T-Bird has been sitting in the garage since we got back from RRTR2 in LA at the end of October of this year. Needless to say, it's covered in dust. We write with our finger tips in the dust "we love you". She/he/it accepts that love until she/he/it can be washed next Spring. After all, she/he/it is just a car.

Re: How do you know you love your T-bird

I really love my Thunderbird! So much so that each time I get in it my heart leaps with such a shock of joy so violent that I have to call my cardiologist. Love it so that, when I stop at traffic lights, I jump out to do a jig and collect a crowd and cheek a policeman and get took up and thoroughly disgrace myself with happiness. I stand outside my garage and beat a drum and blow a horn and cover the walls of the world with twenty-four sheet posters all declaring that I love, love, love my Thunderbird!

And yet, for all that. I am not as happy as I want to be, as happy as I should be. Some darkness seems to stalk me, for I know that at some point I will have to get out of my car at journey's end. That I will lose the joy as it came to me. Then I cheer up with the thought that I can do it all over again.

Even my children know how much I love the car. In fact my son-in-law even made the comment that when I pass (I've requested to be cremated) they will take some of the ashes and keep them in the ash tray of the T-Bird. They said I could continue to enjoy it (and could also tell them where to park).

Let's see - there is a bit of a theme here:

                    Merlot fingernail polish
                    Merlot cell phone
Not one, but three Merlot purses
                    Merlot Christmas decorations
                    etc......

And to top it off - the new house now has a true WOman cave complete with Merlot leather furniture. And not to let the tbird feel left out, I pondered over what to put into the large picture niche ..... solved with nine 8x10 black framed photos of one very special Merlot Bird and it's friends.

Can you post a pic of your pictures, please? Doesn't have to be close up, just so I can see what you did, and how you did it.

After nine years, two months and twenty days of ownership, all I can say is DITTO, DITTO to everything that has been posted so far. It brightens my day and spirits just to see it in the garage, let alone driving it. And it even perks me up to see another one on the road.

How fortunate you are to have an Inspiration Yellow /yellow accent. It's the only color that guarantees you a sunny day whenever you take it out for a drive, no matter how gray the sky may be outside.

                            How about this one.

You fly somewhere and your worry about the Tbird back home.
(I flew home for christmas, and left the TBird in Hawaii)

Here you go Pinki - as you can see there are a few spots left for those upcoming Tbird events. Also wanted to show a bit of the Merlot leather

Really cheap to do - 50% off 8x10 frames from Michaels and Walgreens prints. Middle photo was the small reflections print we got at the 55th Ford event.

Oh and before those engineers out there comment, yeah I know that they aren't quite level - but actually they do look better in person that the photo shows and I eye balled the hanging. Tweaking to come.
