Starting mid year next year, 2011, we will have members who have owned their T-Birds for ten years. Who are they and what are the dates.

Ours was built in June 2001, went back to the factory and took delivery on 10-09-2001. That is the date we will have owned the car 10 years.

I Picked up 15AGAIN on November 19, 2001. That was the Monday before Thanksgiving. So I will be the owner for ten years on November 19th of next year. Since I am at 112,000 miles now, by then 15AGAIN will have approximately 120,000 miles or an average of 12,000 per year.

Mine was ordered on January 10th, the day the order bank opened, built on August 7th, delivered on September 28, 2001.

I had an agreement with our dealer that he could keep the Thunderbird on the his show room floor for a week when it came in. It arrived at the dealership late on Tuesday October 30, 2001, but they didn't call me until Thursday afternoon, November 1st.

On Saturday November 3rd, I drove the 25 miles to the dealership and saw the car for the first time. It was sitting on the show room floor with a rope arround it. Believe it or not, that was the first time I was able to sit down in a retrobird. After admiring and drooling on it for a few minutes (all I could do since I forgot to take the camera with me - bummer), I signed all the purchase paperwork (including a paper from FORD stating that I would not sell it for 6 months), so, on November 3, 2011 we will officially hit the 10 year mark of ownership.

The car was officially delivered to me by the dealership owner himself on a flat bed at my place of employment at 4:00pm on Friday November 9, 2001. After everyone at work got through congratulating me for buying such a cool car, I drove it home from work - it was the first time I ever drove a retrobird. On Saturday morning we headed to Lawton, Oklahoma to see my mother and father for the Veteran's Day Weekend and show them our new "Jewel".

Who would have believed where the decision to buy the Thunderbird would take us over the past 10 years? The people we know, the places we have been and the experiences we have enjoyed have made it hands down the best purchase of our lives. It was totally worth the money we paid for it and I wouldn't ever trade those first 18 to 24 month's of ownership for the $8-$10K we could have saved by waiting. Had we waited, we would have missed Thunderbird DESTINation. That would have been a travesty of ultimate proportions, since Destin and the caravan to it is where a lot of the friendships began that we treasure so much all these years later.

These stories are SO interesting. Keep them coming. It is great back-up for a special TBN event coming up next year.

This is what BIRTHDAY THUNDER is all about. T Birders in Florida will be celebrating TEN years of Retro T Birds with a giant birthday party in Orlando on November 19th. It will be an all day affair.

We are in the planning stages presently and early in 2011 will be announcing some details and registration information. Everyone will be welcome regardless of the year of your Bird. 2001 WAS A VERY IMPORTANT YEAR IN OUR HISTORY. It deserves special recognition.

I ordered ours in January,2001 and took delivery Nov. 6, 2001. We love it but only have 55,000 miles. Still runs like new and still has the original battery.

Didn't get mine till Jan. in 02 because the 02 Blue was the last color to go on the Assembly line back then. They started another paint line in the paint shop for this color.

December 7 of this year CARTOY and I celebrated 9 blissful years together!

Love my Bird, and love the friends I've made thru the years just as much, if not more!
