  • Another Thunderbird Slam

I just came across this description of the 2002 Thunderbird by Cartalk.com

"The new Thunderbird isn't particularly sensible. It's an indulgence pure and
    simple"

I must admit if you read the entire article it does have some positive notes
along with a few more negatives.

Johan Cruijff (sure you know him) once said 'There is always something positive in every negative'
I like that and also say 'keep it simple..' so 'Pure and simple' sounds positive to me.

Sensible? I take it as a compliment that the Thunderbird is NOT sensible! Iconic and stylish are rarely sensible. Thrilling is rarely sensible. Put in woman's terms -- a Thunderbird is like a killer pair of stilettos - while a more sensible shoe would be a loafer.

NOT sensible is definitely a plus!

I ask -- what are these automobile 'pundits' driving? Pintos or Pacers maybe? :)

It's a Thunderbird! Haven't all Thunderbirds (well at least most, maybe many?) have been stylish?

I loved the stylish flare of early birds and the four-seaters that had lots of style and flare. Different than any other cars ever.

            The retro-birds say it all.

Any roadster is certainly an indulgence.
Maybe not practical but folks who appreciate style & want a 140mph V8 run-around-town two-seater are not really after practical. We're after fun, fun, fun!

This at least puts us in the company of corvettes and other 2 seat sports cars. But like another person on this site said, it is not a sports car but it should be classified in the "grand touring" catagory.

I totally agree with that statement. We left home in the morning to buy a new tie to go to a charity dinner and came home with a T-Bird. Didn't buy the tie.

That's what is so fun about this site!! There are so many of us who are not sensible and are ready to have FUN in life with all of our adventures!!! That's what life is all about family and friends!!!

We have been through just about every motion a person can go through, just as a family would, and there is always someone there with words of encouragement, support and love. You can't put a price on friendship!!

Once again, I couldn't even imagined how much buying this car would bless our lives!!! We have gone places where no man has gone...well a little exaggerated for my Star Wars friends!! Every trip has been so much fun!! What wonderful friends we have made!!

AND.......Let's not forget the MOON PIES!!!! (Thanks Gordon!!!) I wouldn't know anything about them either without buying the car!!

Me too. I retired in '03. I had been eying the new birds and even test driving them. When the PCR came out I new I had to find a way to get one. I was so excited I drug my wife on a Sunday to look through the windows of the closed Ford dealership near our home to see the T-bird I wanted. It was my retirement present to me. No regrets so far. Merry Christmas All!
