  • Cooling fan seems louder than usual

While we don't drive the car much (2,600 miles), when pulling into the garage I recently have noticed the cooling fan seems to be louder than usual.

This first time occurred a few weeks ago after driving on the Xway for 30 miles and today when driving just a few miles.

The needle on the temp gauge is right in the middle between H and C which is good.

The fan seems to be running hard, noisier than before and an electrical whine type noise runs on a while after shutting off the engine.

Maybe it's just me but I seem to have noticed it more on the last 2 times out.

I would think with it being colder in FL it might run less.

Any suggestions or is this normal?

....Is your coolant level o.k?....If level is down...the fan will compensate by running longer ....to maintain normal reading on temp. guage....

This was the case in my 2005 with 12,600 miles on it (I had just purchased it)...turns out there was a nest in the fan assembly. But - because the car had been idle for so long - and then likely driven - it ending up causing the thermostat to fail.

Take it in to get looked at.
