Re: Alan Jackson sings about his thunderbird.
Bought it from iTunes and put it on my dedicated Tbird iPod. It is a good song and yes, it was written by Alan Jackson....Oh, and he was born in 58 so the arithmetic works...he 15 she 18......so it could be autobiographical. THANKS!!!!Last edited by Southern; Dec 20, 2010, 11:30 PM.sigpic

Re: Alan Jackson sings about his thunderbird.
The song is autobiographical as are a lot of his songs. He still has the white T-bird. Aaron had a story in his Thunderbird Concepts newsletter a while back about how he had bought his 4 sisters 2002 retro birds for Christmas. Guess Alan really is a Thunderbird guy.
He did not sing this song at the concert in Gulf Shores. I'm not sure how much they change up the performances from night to night, but I'm betting the song is not on his concert play list. Truth is - he has too many hits to get them all into the show.21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !

Re: Alan Jackson sings about his thunderbird.
this is actually a true story as his wife sought out the car after he had sold it to buy their first house. Years Later, she had it restored for some ungodly amount and gave it to him for christmas! Great story and it has a lot of truth to how passion and cars and women can all go together!

I remember him saying the color of the car. At the end he mentions he should not have sold her...
he was 15, she was 18... she was a '55...
And maybe something about her 'lines'.
Now I'm going to go back and listen again
Good test, Dot!

Re: Alan Jackson sings about his thunderbird.
I sure liked Alan getting together with George Strait and recording "Murder on Music Row".
If ever a song was true.........
Actually glad to hear that it was autobiographical. We could use more Tbird songs!
Most country boys First Love was actually more likely to be an F100.
I know that was my first love.
In study hall, I would sketch swoopmobiles...but what I really wanted was a truck. And Joan Henderson.....But that's another story.sigpic

Re: Alan Jackson sings about his thunderbird.
Oh a swoopmobile was just a teen aged kid drawing lots and lots of cars.
I thought everybody did it. They all had one common denominator....they were all swoopy......But I didn't go into that business, so you never saw a real live swoopmobile.....tho some of the Jaguars kinda "stole" my ideas......Ford GTs are swoopy. Not many Tbirds were swoopy....with the exception of the Bullet Birds...which must have been designed from my original design notes formulated in High School Study Hall......sigpic

You got that color detail right, John. and if you know Alan's story about his 55, there are other clues but that's the one that clinched it for me when the song first came out.Limited Edition databases for 007 msg..#26 , PCR sticky, and Cashmere msg.#64
