    Re: Brake Caliper Covers

Extreme heat? That's a good point, I suppose if you were driving through a mountainous area and had to constantly use your brakes going down hill, they would or could get hot. So painting should require high temp. paint. I assume the covers are designed to withstand these conditions. Leroy

They are powdercoated. Heat is not a problem.

Gary, I painted mine turquoise quite a few years ago but after a couple months decided I didn't like it and painted them black. I had no trouble with heat, they just stood out too much for my taste.

I thought you were talking about painting the actual calipers. Heat would not be a problem with the covers.

My calipers are painted red, no covers. No signs of the paint burning off due to high temps. I didn't do it so I have no idea what paint was used. I bought the car in 07 and have put 11K miles on it since then. Leroy

Apparently these do not work with the Neiman Marcus Rims: The Clearance is Little if Any with the clips ... Has anyone else had them installed with N/M rims?

My Mechanic just called and said he would be afraid to install them with the clearance & he broke one of the rear ones <sigh> so I dread that battle with FoMoCo returns.

              David, yours look just awesome.

Maybe you should've used the spacers mentioned earlier in this thread? They worked on the 16 spoke wheels and maybe will work on the NMs?

                      Re: Brake Caliper Covers

With the 16 spoke wheels you need 3 mil spacers on the front wheels and the back needs 5 mil spacers both were supplied by the manufactuer free of charge. We tried this 3 times at the Ford dealership and they only charged me 30.00 when it was complete.

So what was the total out of pocket cost, for this modification? Who supplied the spacers? I assume you put them on the lugs before mounting the wheel. Do you still get a full nut after tightening the lug nuts? Leroy

As posted before the caliper cover maufacturer supplied the spacers free of charge. The only thing the Ford dealership told me to do was get the wheels retorqued after 250 miles. 30.00 total was the charge. Nothing for the other 2 trial runs.

The caliper covers cost 230.00 with free shipping. All the factory consulting was free and all calls were responded quickly. I have nothing but good things to say about them. They were going to forward the info about the 16 spoke wheels on their sales.

Thanks Monty, That's good info to know for those of us that have the 16 spoke wheels and may be thinking of getting these covers. I wonder if TBC offers spacers or if they're needed for thier covers on the 16 spoke wheels? I think I'll just leave mine painted red. Leroy
