I have an 02 Evening Black and have had a difficult time capturing the dazzling shine I'm looking for. I think I've tried at least 5 or 6 different products. Many of them were fine on my other vehicles but black is turning out to be a much tougher challenge than most colors. My next attempt will probably be the BLACK BOX by Turtle Wax. This product is made especially for black cars..We'll see..At least I have a project for my bird while it sits until spring... Anyone with suggestions?? Thanks Tim

Re: Looking for a better wax--
This is gonna get heated very soon. I have both my Bird and my other car sealed with Zaino product. It gives a veryyyyy wet shine to them in a reasonable amount of time. The initial time spent may seem long, but subsequent treatments to keep the shine is no more than spraying detailer (Zaino) after washing.Rex

Re: Looking for a better wax--
I'm with Rexster.
I have been a Zaino user for about 20 years.
Once you understand the difference between carnauba wax and Polymer you are ahead of the game and ready perhaps, to make your choice.sigpic

Re: Looking for a better wax--
Zaino works best on my Black Bird. If you want to do a real good job on the Bird you should first clay the car to clean off all other stuff completely. Then polish it with Z-PC Fusion if neccessary, then use ZFX in combination with Z-5 Pro. Two layers will last for months and make your car shine like nothing else. In between I use Z6 or Z8 to bring shine back and always wash the car with Z7, it's about the only car wash that does not take wax or polymers off.Sometimes Birds travel far...

Re: Looking for a better wax--
That and heat in Fl is the only reason I don't have a black car. Keeping a black car looking new is way more than I want to under take, at this stage of my life. I used to detail everything once a week, but now it's twice a year. and wash twice a month. My truck is a very dark green and will get dirty in a week without being driven.

Re: Looking for a better wax--
Zaino is good stuff, no question about it. However, in the interest of experimenting, I tried ICE and then after each washing, a application of ICE Detailer which goes on in 5 minutes and gives a nice sheen. I have found that Meguiars (sp?) gold car wash gives very rich suds and shows no indication at all of removing wax; it lasts a long time and at least in my experience is cost effective. My car has minute scratches that disappear with the ICE detailer. Zaino, I think, will last longer, but costs more. I've had 2 black cars and while they looked great, it really has to be a labor of love to try to keep them clean! There are some very good products out there, I'll be interested to see what others have decided.Life without passion is no life at all.

Re: Looking for a better wax--
I also agree with Rexster. And Southern is right. Zaino is a polymer. Polymers provide a long lasting shine, but the appearance is sterile, plastic like. Carnauba gives a rich, deep shine but is far less durable. So I apply three coats of Zaino Z-5 followed by two coats of Zymol Carbon for the ultimate shine.

Re: Looking for a better wax--
I have been using a product named "Ultra Luster". It is a waterless wash, polish and glaze containing four polymers. Simple to use, spray it on,wipe and use a micro fiber cloth to polish it off. Takes no more than 45 min. to do my car and the results are stunning. Lasts for 9-12 months. I have never had to wash my car with a hose since I've been using this product. Simply, wipe with a damp chamois and dry with a micro fiber towel that's it. The luster will amaze you. Just received a new supply from Dennis, aka Handyman for Christmas. I made a believer out of him too. Good Stuff!sigpic

Re: Looking for a better wax--
Recommend for best results use a clay bar before you wax- regardless of what wax you choose. Personally I use the ICE paste product and like it. It's not the best shine (carnuba is better) but I find ICE really does a nice job, lasts a real long time and is just so easy to put on.

Re: Looking for a better wax--
My big hang up are swirl marks.Never heard of Zaino products did some research and
came up with Z-5 Pro which is supposed to work wonders on swirl marks. Does anyone
have any experience with this product as far as eliminating or hiding swirl marks? I tried
the Turtle Wax black wax which claims to be the total solution for swirl marks doesn't
work,save your money.
