  • Sirius XM radio renewal question...

Guys, I need some advice please...I received my first Sirius renewal today. We got the first 6 months free when we bought my girlfriend's new car last June, and now, I don't know if what they're offering me is good: they want $30 for 6 months. Is that a good price?...what should I do?..Is there a way to get better prices than that or should I jump on that offer?
It's my first time dealing with this, so I'm a little "lost"......so any advice would greatly be welcomed!
    thanks,
    Claude.

Boy, that sounds great to me ($5.00 per month), but I don't have Sirius now. I don't see how you could ever better that price by enough to be concerned with. If it were me, I would see if I could lock down a year for $60.00. I''ve had Sirius in the past and was never offered anything close to this.

Yes, that's a good price, especially considering the total will be $30 for the entire year! You can do a Google search for Sirius/XM coupons or special offers; people often post these things on the net. I just got my XM for $77/year from an offer like this, but Sirius and XM have different sign-ups. Good luck!

Great price. It is usually $11.00/month.

What did you listen to during the free trial period? What did you listen to before you had Sirius? Have you changed your listening habits? When I had the option to renew I chose not to. I felt their programing didn't offer that much of what I was interested in. Besides, I can spend that money on my "Bird".

Actually, that's a good point to consider, Dick. The great value for me that does make it worthwhile is on trips, because then I can listen to the BBC, NPR, and specific stations without fading in and out; at least from where I am to the Tampa Bay area. MP3s/IPod are an alternative that might be worth exploring, several here have set that up.

              Mine is 10 bucks a month . Kim's was 110 for a year after 6 months free
( new car stuff ) . I have got it on Dish network and as an app on my I phone . I phone app is free with the car subscription , the sat. comes with the programming . I really like it as I can listen to what I want when I want . 30 bucks is a steal and I would try to lock it in for at least a year if I could .

Claude, Take the deal. I just looked on-line at my account info and it has gone from $148.00 in 2008 to $175.53 in 2010 renewing again in June. These are annual amounts. Will have to take a closer look to see if it is worth $14.63 per month.

                  For what it's worth...
I just renewed the xm radio subscription last Sunday at a cost of $12.95 per month. Sign up for 1 year and get 1 month free, total is $142.45.
I like the xm...early rock 'n' roll, classic country and classic radio. There's also a Sinatra channel that I like to listen to once in a while.
Besides the xm in my wife's Buick, it includes on-line listening.

Thanks guys for the replies...I've also posted that question on a couple of other sites on which I'm a member and they all basically said the same as here: It's a good deal and some even said to try have it extended to a year for $60...
Ok, but HOW can I do that?...Who to ask?...

Re: Sirius XM radio renewal question...

Before you call, LOOK for discount prices on the Web, if there is a code, copy it, otherwise just call and ask if this price is available. If that doesn't work out, ask if they have a special rate for re-subscribing. The worse they can do is say no. BUT, you're not going to do better than $30 for 6 more months, so personally I would go with that and then worry about re-subscribing unless they're willing to go with that price for another year. Just my two cents. There is plenty of good advice above, so go with what you feel best with.

Can you please give me an example as to where to look for these "discount codes" ?
                          Thanks,

P.S: I guess that this "$30/6 months" deal is going to be hard to beat!...

Re: Sirius XM radio renewal question...

Sirius and XM have a tiered setup, but unless you stumble onto it, it will not be made plain to you. The codes that I found some months ago were out of date and I ended up simply calling and asking if the $77/year was available. The agent said it was and that was the end of that for a year. If the offer is not honored by the agent, some call back to get another agent and can usually get something done. Some people ask to have their service ended and then they may be offered an enticing deal. I bought a replacement unit that said XM/Sirius on it, but after checking, would only work on XM, so I had to end my Sirius service. Since that time I have been getting attractive offers via Email to re-subscribe. I did a quick query of "sirius subscription discounts" Here's one thread for an example:
                            http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=2759463
Again, in your position I think the most cost effective solution is to take the $30 offer and spend some time looking around to see how you would like to proceed when that runs out. It may be that if her car doesn't have an MP3 hookup, that might be a better way for you to invest, or if it does, then you might find that you're not as pleased as you might be and would be satisfied with CD/MP3. You're in good shape and have 6 months to see how things pan out. Sorry for the longish reply and hope it was of some use to you.
