Re: Sirius XM radio renewal question...

Ron, Claude's query was for his girlfriend's new car, not his Tbird. To answer your question though, yes the Tbird has satellite, no it doesn't. Clear as mud, eh?! It is ready for satellite, but in order for it to be functional it must have a part or two added unless the prior owner already did this. Here are a few threads:

Re: Sirius XM radio renewal question...

For what it's worth, I didn't continue my free trial when it had expired in Barb's 2008 SportsTrack. I just streamed Pandora (Internet Radio) for free thru my iphone and into the Bluetooth connection in the stereo. Sounds great, it's free, and is far more customizable than satellite radio.

For the Bird, my new stereo has aux input, so I just run an aux line into it from the iphone (also will work with any 3G phone) and stream music down thru it. Hours and hours of what I want to listen to, for free...

That solution won't work very well for anyone with a factory stereo still in their bird, which is yet another reason to upgrade it. A bit more expensive, but in the long run it's worth it, you get better options, and you can listen to whatever you want how you want.

That's a great idea, Bobby. Are there any problems with reception when traveling?

Re: Sirius XM radio renewal question...

When Sirius was first being launched I was lucky enough to get a protable unit that I move from car to car all you need is an FM radio set to 88.1 to receive the brodcasts. We purchased a life time service for $500 with no renewal ever...........but that is no longer available I am told.

When we travel we are usually together in the same car so it is just plug and play. It is handy for NASCAR races when travelling for un-interrupted service.

When my Sirius 6 month trial was up on my 08 Edge I tried to get a deal based on having a life time subscription and was willing to pay another $300 for a life time but Sirius wanted $14 per month. It didn't make sense to me when all I had to do is move the portable by unplugging the power cord plugged into the power outlet and move the antenna to the car we are driving. So I told them where to put the $14 bucks per month and still have my satelite radio in every car including my 64 where I have installed Custom Audio Sound AM/FM radio.

Drive it like you stole it !!!

Re: Sirius XM radio renewal question...

We bought an Elantra Touring (terrific machine) in June of 2009. XM/Sirius was standard equipment. The initial trial subscription ran out in 90 days, and we have had no interest in renewing it. The car is a grocery and errand runner, used maybe twice a week, 20 minutes per trip at best.
Since the subscription ran out a year and a half ago, we've been getting a steady stream of offers to renew at various low rates for various periods. Yesterday's offer was 5 months for $20.
If we ever decide to take an extended trip in it instead of the TBird, for increased storage space (which I doubt), perhaps we'll accept the current offer. We know that beyond the special period the rates would resume to the usual level, and we'd not renew again.
As you would use the service more than we do, $75 for a year may be attractive. But don't expect to renew afterwards at that rate, unless you again try to wait them out.

Well, I ultimately ended up taking the 12 months for $75. offer, so I'm good for a year. We'll see what kind of deal they'll offer me next year when renewal time comes again...

You did fine, that's only $6.25/mo or about 21 cents/day which is a very fair deal. All best for you and your girl to enjoy your purchase.
