  • V8 Mod

For those who want a subtle V8 emblem for your front fender, dash, trunk lid,
etc. may I suggest the following. It's a chrome, metal hat pin I found on eBay (search for V8 pin). It is about 11/16" wide and 1 1/8" tall, a diminutive replica of the art deco '32 Ford V8 emblem, but not quite as robust as the Explorer, plastic version. The quality is superb and the two pins on the back are easily snapped off and the solder filed flat to attach to any flatish surface.
At first, I thought it a bit too small for the front fender, but after applying it, I changed my mind. It's a subtle reminder of what awesome power lurking under the hood.

    That is very nice looking.

The attached photo is the one I'm using. It is after market replica of fender emblem used on the 1955 Birds. It is my 05 Bird's link to its heritage.

Here's the link to the V8 pin on eBay:

At $4.95 each + $2.50 shipping they are relatively inexpensive.

If your going to add an emblem to your front fender this "Y Block" emblem
is the way to go. This emblem was first used in 1954 on Fords with the new
        overhead valve V8.

            Mike,

Where can I get this V8 emblem? I really like the steel blue. What does the interior look like? White seat inserts?

Thanks for the kind words about my Medium Steel Blue.

Did you know that the medium steelblue for 2005 could be ordered with the seat inserts colored to match, very similar to ordering the sand color package. Attached Thumbnails

Yes, the MSB inserts look really nice. I think you car has a rare color and is is beautifull. I almost broke down and purchased a medium steel blue because of the blue seat inserts.

P.S. Thanks for the info. How did you attach the emblems?

The 56 has the Y-Block on the "parcel" compartment door and the old Ford logo on the Fender.

                        HKS,
The V8 Y block emblem comes from Carpenter as George pointed out, with two screws that go into recessed threaded pockets. You are suppose drill holes and mount to fender from the inside of the fender. NO WAY!

Just remove the screws and throw them away. Get some 3M tape made for the auto industry usually used for attaching molding, cut to fit and stick the emblem on where ever you like.

Mine have on for almost 5 years, enduring all 4 seasonal weather changes and automatic car washes.

One caution the 3M tape really really sticks. One stick & it is stuck. Although it can be loosened & removed with either a heat gun or good hair dryer.

If you wet the fender you can apply with just slight pressure and still slide into final position then press into place.

Hi Herb; That particular V8 is white metal, chromed. So the posts are permanant. I used a dremmel tool to remove the posts. I used double sided tape to attach. But, the front quarter panel has an ever so slight curve to it, so I had to use two layers of that tape. No issues and it's been on a few years and through many washings.
