  • Barrett-Jackson Auction Starts Tuesday Jan. 18

    The auction starts this week.
Lots of Thunderbirds up on the block Friday. Check the auction lists for each day. Some great cars on the block every day.

Is anyone from TBN going to the Auction, Chriscrete?

Not sure of the TV schedule. Look on Speed Channel.

I always record and watch them all but I don't consider the B-J to be a very good yardstick in this economy. The last 2 or 3 howvever have had as many bargins as ridiculous sales. Like they say they are worth what somebody will pay and not a penny more. It does appear that the cars from 50's on back have dropped a lot or not gone up like the rest. I guess there are fewer of us left who relate to them.

I record it, but I fast forward like crazy.

It's reality, but I start to get bored easily watching so many GM cars.

Except for the Mustang and, to a lesser extent, TBirds, there's not many Fords/Mercs.

But, that's pretty much the way it was with the car crowd in the mid/late 60's in my local towns. GM ruled, but MoPar started to make some inroads.

Back then, if you had a Ford, it had better be VERY fast, or you risked constant taunting by the guys at the diner.

Just skimmed over the listings. Saw a few error's. I pay close attention to Fords. Saw a 1947 V 8 that was a 1948 flathead six. and a Framall tractor that was a truck. Hopefully for the sellers sake it gets corrected.

Totally agree, in mid sixties it was a battle on the street with Mopar and GM. Quite a few Fords around but a real "BAD" one was rare, and usually not stock. I had a 273 CI Dart that would smoke any small block Ford in Orlando. I had friends with 289 Hi perf Falcons Comets and Mustangs, all felt faster when you drove them but none came close to beating my Dart on the street or track.

Hmmm, nice overview. I like to have lot 52.2. That is something I can use in heavy traffic overhere

The old Darts and little Barracudas of that mid 60s period, before they got bigger, were KILER 1/4 thumpers that laid regular humiliations on Fords and Chevy's both. They just seemed to "hook up" better without a lot of effort. Not unusual to grab a car length out of the hole because the Fords and Chevys wouldn't "leave" as hard off the line.

There is a 340 Dart GT, originally a 273, convertible in that list.

Since it isn't a matching engine car it could go for a very reasonable price and be a drivable little racer. Those 340s were killer small blocks.

Might be the best pick of this auction list, IMO.

Then again .......lose the HORRIBLE wheels and that '67 El camino works for me too.

I like the idea that both cars will probably sell at prices that won't be so high you feel it'd be a mistake to actually drive 'em.
