I have to wonder about additives. I get several cars (different makes and models) a month that throw a PO4XX code (three way catalyst function) and I'm pretty well convinced that some of these fail due to the car's owner pouring weird stuff in the gas. These are the same people that put oil in the brake fluid resevoir, antifreeze in the windshield washer jug, and have sandbags in the trunk of their front wheel drive cars. I actually like most of these folks, they are usually very talented at something else, but I feel like bolting the hood of their cars shut.
Anyway, cats are kind of fragile, they don't like strong concentrations of foreign chemicals.

Invoice $38,457 - Sold new 9/15/2003
One of twenty two built like this
She was a good one. Sold 12/30/2014.
Replaced with 2013 Infiniti G37 Coupe.
A lot better car and even more exclusive, but doesn't have the Cachet the Thunderbird had. Adios, mi Amigo.
With Sea Foam, what results have you noticed that you call "excellent"?

Smoother idle, more pep, stronger acceleration, quicker response, no hesitation. I have a 2002 T-Bird, 105,000 miles. Second owner and do not know what stations it has been. Techtron has been around for a long time, so has Seafoam. Some have used Seafoam in their crankcase as well as down the vacuum feed. I have had the results I expected for a very old (1942) product. I have only used it in the gas. Techtron is hard to find and Cheveron stations are gone from Kansas, so Seafoam is a viable replacement IMHO.
Only those who will risk going too far
Can possibly find out how far one can go.

Well, this got me thinking...so I asked the tech folks at Chevron...I am now edumacated!
Dear Mr. T,
Thank you for the inquiry, and apologies for the delay in getting a response sent out to you. We are currently working through a back log of e-mails.
We recommend that you use the Techron concentrate as directed @ 1 Oz. of the Techron concentrate per 1 gallon of gasoline. The products effects will last anywhere between 3000-5000 miles depending on driving behavior.
Do not add the Techron concentrate to every tank of gasoline. Chevron recommends no more than 5 treatments of the Techron concentrate per oil change.
With the use of the Techron Concentrate Plus, there is a concentration of the product in your gas tank which is at least 10 times higher than what is in the gasoline itself. This higher dosage might create the chance that some of the product will manage to get into the oil crankcase and react with certain oil additives therein or dilute the oil itself. This is the main reason for the limitation of use - customers would not want to "overdose" and cause an unsatisfactory amount of the product to be diluting the oil. The directions for use are such that any dilution that might occur would not be a problem.
Thanks for the reply, Ebird (Earle). Reason I asked, was that I just recently put a can of Sea Foam in my '06 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 51,000 miles on a 5.7 Hemi . I will have to say, I obtained the very same benefits as you enumerated in your note above, and am very satisfied with the results.
I just got my '94 Lincoln TownCar up and running after it sat, virtually idle under the carport for about a year and a half. Took it for the State inspection, and the mechanic advised me to use Seafoam before he tested the car, then drive it about 45 miles. I did as he suggested, and the Lincoln passed with flying colors. To be fair, she was purring like a kitten from the get-go, and I think it probably would have passed anyway...but I'll never know. All I do know is the the fellow was adament that Seafoam is an outstanding product.
Mercy! I'd forgotten what a smooooth ride the Lincoln has!
I used to have a parts distributing business sold seafoam by the case. If a dealer used it one time he was sold. I use it in all my cars & lawn equip i swear by it.
