Re: Is Your Bird a Keeper for Life?

It's a keeper, keeper, keeper! I used to say, "Everything I have is for sale except my wife and my toothbrush, but now I have added "my T-bird too"!!

Well, all I can add is that it was a sad and very painful day when we had to sell MMM. We both new then, as soon as we could, we would have another T-Bird. Fortune found us, and we were able to purchase the NM. Then by happenstance, the person who got MMM, had a similar situation happen. and I bought her back. She will NEVER NEVER EVER leave us again voluntarily. But Shit does happen in life. All I can say is, Yes she is a keeper, but should an unforeseen catastrophy hit, there will ALWAY's be a Bird in our Nest!!!!

The Thunderbird is NOT just a car. It IS A LOVE AFFAIR!!

Add my vote to the keeper column.

I am well aware of the fact that some here consider the Retro to be no more than another car, but I am also aware that, as a lifelong lover of the two-seater Thunderbird, there are many here who share my passion and would never consider selling.

Happy motoring to those who plan to keep the flame burning. You have my gratitude for all the nurturing and loving care you have given and will continue to give these fine automobiles.

You are fortunate, as are all the people who get to know and drive the Retro!

I like it a lot -and the company of those in TBN, but since it's my daily driver, the time will come when the cost/time of upkeep will overcome its other virtues, and at that time it will have to go.

When we first saw the Merlot it was love at first sight for my wife.
Problem was it was a little too pricey and not very functional while still having kids at home.
Fast forward a couple of years kids are all out of the house and we track down her dream car for less than half of the original price.
              Its definately a keeper.

It is a keeper. But I think one would be able to get parts for a 56 Tbird years longer. What's a carburator rebuild kit here and there and one ignition coil. I could probably make my own coil.

Retro Tbird computer modules: It is unlikely that someone will develop a computer module from scratch after all Ford spare parts are gone. Our only hope will be the Junk yards.

This is what runs through my mind when I read the "Broken Wings" thred.

Mine would have been a keeper if not for the economy tanking. I keep thinking that someday I will get mine back or another one. Just bought a Ford Focus for the wife, that is all I can afford for now.

Really am fond of my T-Bird blue '02. However, I am on the virge of parting company with my Torch Red/Premium White '05. Will hang on to '02 as long as garage space allows. Would love to acquire a fully restored blue '55 one day, to put along side the '02.

Is my Bird a keeper for life? Like they asked the old guy "have you lived here all your life" He answered "not yet".

Like many of you, I don't plan to sell. We have 1 grandaughter who fell in love with it the firdt day and ask's everyday if it will be hers one day. The four grandsom's prefer my truck or want to build a stretrod. That I am not sure about yet. Wife loves the t bird and no longer wants to replace the 67 Mustang convert We bought new after we got married. The t bird was cheaper and definately a better car. I traded a 560 SL for it so I have a little over 10K in it. Like someone said in 20-30- years it may be worth 50K which is $150.00 of todays moneyWhile we have plenty of daily drivers, it gets driven almost every day so the up keep may be an issue in 20 years but it can be done.

I agree with everything Spence said. Mine will be passed on to my son.

                            I second that notion.

I plan on keeping my 2 Thunderbirds and eventually using them as my daily drivers once my current VW Passat wears out.

But in this economy, who can really be 100% certain of anything. Things still are rather difficult here in Nevada.

Our plan is to keep it forever unless like someone else said "Make me and Offer" and my mind might change directions.
Since my number is so high I have nothing to fear anytime soon.
