Well, I plan to commit to the two top options. Bonnie and I plan to keep each other after 45 years and since she loves the Bird, the trips and meeting the crazies who own the Birds as much as I do......We plan to keep it.....anyone ready for a road trip? No fair-weather comment that "its only a car" here.

My Birds are keepers, and if I die before Charley, I know he will only keep Moondoggie. He has been instructed to sell Goldilocks ONLY through TBN. If I die before Charley, the Shelby & '89 Bird go to the vulchers, and I'll buy another Bird.
Once I'm gone...who knows. My son doesn't even know I have them, so who cares?

I'm still enjoying mine and it's a daily driver. I don't know right now what I would replace it with if I were to sell it. So until something else pulls me away I'll keep it....though I have always liked the look of the Lexus SC430. I don't know much about them. I do like the way Lexus takes care of my wife and her RX330.

I plan on keeping it and someday leave it to my daughter. As everybody else has stated I have never had so much fun and met more friendly people than with this car. Every time I put the top down I have this big smile on my face and not a care in the world.

Lexus has stopped production of the SC430 model. The 2010 version was the last one.

Like you say; the car has taken us places where we met great friends and seen a lot of new places. I believe that the cars have lead us to clubs and organizations like TBN where we have made so many great friends.

I have owned my 2003 Thunderbird since 2006, and don't ever plan to sell it. People have approached me and said that I should preserve the car and not put too many miles on it, and someday it will be worth a lot of money. My goal is to enjoy the pleasures of the car each and every day, and wear it out in about thirty years!

I plan on keeping mine till I can't extend the warranty any longer. If my figures are right that will be in August of 2019 and if I average the same miles per year that I have for the last four, It should have about 40,000 miles on it and I'll be 75 years old. I wonder if it will be worth what I paid for it at that time, 27K? Leroy

Plan on keeping and driving as long as it and I hold up. Both doing ok for now, but I am 70 and 15AGAIN has 113,000 miles.
We have made so many friends and seen so much together, so we will continue to travel with a great group of "Bird" drivers.

My bird is a daily driver. It is unlikely that the one I have now is going to last the rest of my life. I originally bought a 2002 TBB through the "Mangle the Wait" ordering program. After 7 years, 90k miles, and a major accident repair, I decided to upgrade to a newer model. I traded that blue in for a 2005 Torch Red garage queen.

I agree with GObird's statements: "This car showed me lots of things in this country that I would have never seen without it. This car allowed me to make friends all over this country and abroad that I would never have made without it. This car gave me more pleasure then any car I have ever owned." Two ladies behind me at a red light today were grinning ear to ear and giving me the thumbs up. I have never had any other car that made so many people smile. It is not just another car!

I don't know what I will do when Kokomo II gets worn out but hopefully I will get another 3-5 years of retrobirding before I have to think about it. I know there will still be some garage queens out there then, too.

I have no plans at this time to ever sell Jewel. I know better than to say never because we don't know what life will bring, but I will say it will take something pretty catastrophic in our lives for her to leave the nest.

This car and the friends we have made because of owning it are responsible for us going places we probably never would have been to in our lifetime. Not only that, they are responsible for several discussed trips in the future and some that we probably don't have a clue about at this time.

Life IS a highway and the road the good Lord has planned for us seems better behind the wheel of a TORCH RED Thunderbird.

Yeah, I Know. I never buy new. So maybe by the time I'm tired of the Tbird (or it's tired of me) I'll be able to afford the older SC430. If I still even want it then. I'm hearing the ride is kinda rough.

I could never have afforded this bird new. But I've got it now and it's good as new to me.

We got ours to be a keeper and haven't changed our minds yet. When we purchased the 88 turbo coupe, it was to be keeper but at 250,000 miles we sold it. Would love to find another 87 or 88 turbo coupe.
