    Re: Tail light Bezels

Why do owners who put the bezels on, then snap a picture of the rear of the car where it looks the best, and then say it looks great and they don't have a problem? Look again where the side rises above the fender and if you still think that looks great, your fooling yourself because you rushed ahead and put them on without looking at the fit .get real people, at the price they cost, they should fit correct.

To each their own and I say, if the bezels make you smile.....then put them on. They are nice, just not something I would want on mine.

        Couldn't agree more.

There are mods that look like they could/should have come out of the factory, and there are mods that look like add-ons.

        I have some of both.

The chrome hood scoop and the TBird decal in the porthole window, perfect.

The stainless trim around the belt line, not so perfect.

I think it is sad that Ford froze the 2002 design and did not let it evolve as most cars do through successive model years. The design has so much potential, who knows what Ford may have come up with in further development? And then of course, having come out of the factory that way, variations on the design would automatically have become "acceptable". As it is, the retro bird was a dramatically different and fabulous piece of design that was instantly fossilized by Ford. They used up the market for the initial design and did not develop it to encourage first adopters to upgrade or entice new customers.

I like it except for the wheels on the one in front - too big. The style of the wheel is not all that appealing - looks like a pie dish. The tires are too low profile plus the car is riding too low. I like almost everything about the body. It would have been a great follow-up to our birds, but that time has past.

The picture posted by PaulD looks like a 50's rendering of what mid-century designers thought a 21st Century Thunderbird would look like. It reminds me of the GM Futurama Bus which toured the country when I was a child and the Motorama exhibits showing future automobiles.

I stumbled on that photo while looking for something else. Showed up in a list of photos via a Google search. I did some more checking and found that it was created by a Swedish design firm called Vizualtech. If you Goggle them, you will see many more cars that they have designed based on production vehicles. This picture is actually labled as a take off of the 55 TBird.

I think that if they could not come up with a perfect match, they could have added a thin rubber moulding like they do in many cars where two pcs. meet. this would have bridged the gap between the fender and the bezel with a softer look. You say why don't I do that? I say it should be up to the manufacturer to make the part they sell fit as best they can. As for Thunderbird concepts, they are just one of many others who sell the same bezels. I have bought products from them that were manufactured by other companys. You have missed my point completly.
