  • Seller's Remorse

Several weeks ago I regretfully whole-saled my second T-Bird to the local Ford dealer, who in turn posted it on their web-site for an under-priced $26,900. Much to my chagrin, it sold in under two weeks to someone from Minnesota. One week it was on their web-site, the next week its gone: vanished, just-like-that.

Maybe a guy just doesn't appreciate it while he's got it, as Ben Franklin put it, a bird-in-hand is worth two in the bush. Well now I only got one of 'em in hand, my blue bird. The "cardinal" that I lost was a pristine 2005 50th anniversary torch red, with fully accented torch red interior and a performance white hard top, and only 1,850 miles. Funny thing? Boy do I regret selling it, and I'd buy it back in a heart-beat for 27 grand or so. Any body know of it's whereabouts, I'd sure like to talk it's new owner out of owning it?

It seems I recall reading another thread or two where a regretful seller was able to buy his/her car back. For now, at least, I'm holding on tight to my blue bird.

I'm thinking selling mine, too; a 2003 Whisper White beauty with 20K miles on it. But this is a very sad story and I'm afraid I'd feel as regretful as Lindy does. This gives me pause....

I feel your pain Lindy. I tried to buy my PCR back last year, but the new owner wasn't interested in selling it. Maybe its a good thing he didn't, because the way things are going I probably would have had to sell it again. But do I ever miss my Tbird. It was fun...met some great people.....maybe someday I'll get another one.

Glad I am at that point in life where I will never have to think about this unless the world blows up. But then, who would buy it.

Well, if it makes you feel any better...the Borla's are doing wonderfully.....I think they like Florida..... Still haven't fooled around with the SCT........

I want you to understand that the opinion below is not being done to make you feel bad.
But, Dayam! that was one good looking Bird.

            Re: Seller's Remorse

I don't blame you. The color combination is fantastic (I love contrasting tops) and the car looks pristine. My BIG regret was selling my 1969 Camaro SS/RS convertible to a collector back in the 1986 for $7000.00. Today it could easily be worth ten times or more that amount. I used the money for a down payment on my first condo so I ended up making it back and then some when I sold. I still dream about that car!

I regretted selling my Mustang when we had our first baby on the way...until I saw it in a parking lot 5 years later, it had turned into a rust bucket and every imperfection was magnified 10 fold....sometimes our memories are better than reality.

                  Re: Seller's Remorse

That's the only fear I have if I ever sell my 'Bird, to regret it afterwards...
On the other hand, I can't keep 'em all and if I want to buy another "toy", I have to make room for it...

I'll watch for it. Would the dealer give you any information on what city it went to in Minnesota?

I've got sellers remorse for all that gold bullion that I sold in 2009.

                        Hi

I would think the dealership would tell you.

I regret selling my 65 Corvette in 1967.

I get too attached to my cars, but the one that I was glad to sell was my 81 Ford Fairmont wagon, 260 V8.

With two young kids, it served it's purpose, but...ugh.

                              Re: Seller's Remorse

Last summer at the "Ford Museum", I saw a virtual twin to my '68 Cougar XR-7 which my wife and I bought new right after I graduated from college and returned from our honeymoon.

It's easy to forget how the doors and locks used to freeze during the winters in Chicago and the fact that I turned it over to my bride a year after we got it because it was too tight a fit for my 6' long body. Bought me a clean '64 Bonneville 2 dr HT and stretched out.

Yeah, it's easy to remember how good they looked and ran, but we forget their foibles!
