    Re: Questions 66 convert

Looks like the car is all there Steve but you have some work ahead of you to bring it back to a nice looking driver or however far you wish to go. It has the rear option wheel well moulding instead of the skirts. When ordered like that new, they usually had the deluxe 'red ctr.' wheel covers. That wheel well moulding for the rear is very hard to find anymore. Hopefully the package tray for the top at the back that has the tacking strip on it is in good shape. They had a tendency to collect moisture and rot out at the seal lip.

Actually, the '66s came without fender skirts as standard, they were an optional extra only for 1966. They cost $32.70 and when ordered, the chrome trim around the rear wheel opening was deleted.

The deluxe wheel covers were originally $15.60, but when ordered with the fender skirts the total was $51.12 (late price increase).

The soptlight was a dealer option for $29.95

Here's a '66 bird on eBay. Lots of pics.

That is the same car discussed on this thread.

I've seen David and Jeannie's 66 and it's beautiful. This car is a piece of junk. Sorry for my lousy French. ....You would have to have deep pockets and be crazy to restore that thing.

Is this the same '66 that was offered to our members in the past week or two?

YES. Same Car, Same Member here. It was suggested that he put it on ebay, as he was reluctant to put a price here when he first told us about it.

Sorry to disagree Roger, but it is far from Junk. Unfortunately, it is also far from his minimum starting bid as well in it's current condition. With some not to expensive TLC and caring time.......... it could get closer to that number to be considered reasonable. But not as it sits.

                  IMHO

Sorry Dave, that is just my personal opinion. I am sure she's a beautiful car under the skin and that she has a great personality. A 25 grand face lift would really help.
