Once again, try NAPA. My 1992 F-150 PCM (original factory install) went bad and died after 19 years. Called NAPA and they had a replacement the very next day, and runs as good as new again.........can't understand why in just 2 or 3 years, a PCM would go bad, i.e., my '92 F-150 PCM lasted for 19 years, and 120K miles. Go figure-

I think you've been too nice for too long. Time to raise heck in Detroit IMO.

....a telling story of the quality of the component in the first place if Ford is replacing this unobtainium part under warranty....I guess Ford doesn't see the irony in all of this....anyway I think its time to search some wreckers. I friend on the coast has passed on the name of a Ford only wrecker to me, who has two....one of which, unfortunately, is an NM...so you owners now have 1 of 199....start inquiring in your own areas and locate one....they have to be available out there somewhere....maybe we could formulate a list, by area?

                    Steven,

Let us know the progress on the search for the PCM. You have now been without the car for a week since your first post. I hope it is not a primary means of transportation. According to a previous post here another Tbird owner has been waiting TEN WEEKS for this part.

                        Re: pcm problem

It is a primary mode of trans. I am supposed to here back from a customer service supervisor from Ford by end of business tomorrow. They say I am not entitled to a loaner car because I do not have the extended warranty although the pcm is being covered by an extended 8 year 80,000 mile warranty. It may be time to get my attorney involved.

                          Re: pcm problem

The 8 year 80,000 mile warranty is mandated by the EPA (EPA420-F-96-020) for the
PCM. Doubt very much that Ford is required to supply a loaner under this warranty.

Just thinking as this is a EPA requirement Is Ford required to maintain a certain inventory of
related parts. This might be something to follow up on.

I like your idea of starting a list - Possibly a thread named "Used parts suppliers"? Maybe you can start this with the name of the coastal Ford Only wreckers.

Maybe we could put a section in the fourms section of TBN. I'll check with the other owners to see what they think. Sounds like a good idea. Maybe listed in the Garage section of the forum.

I always thought there was a 10 year rule that the parts had to be available for 10 years after production ceased or something like that. I'm not sure if that is just "urban legend" or not. It looks like if there was such a requirement, that a PCM which has a 8 year/80,000 mile warranty and is part of the emission system would have to be stocked. Hope they don't manufacture it in Japan.
