I wonder how many other of the 69k birds out there are having the same problem......look at broken wings...you would think there has got to be one out there somewhere.......it looks like parts could become a REAL problem in the not to distant future....Out of all the coments about cops,ecodes,bushings....extended warr, et al.....this threads making me think.....maybe the M.B. SL.....should have been the way to go.

There are quite a few 12A650 's listed but with different number configurations before and aft. those could perhaps be just production dates.
They ask for your VIN and module part # to match up.

Giving me pause also. I don't want to end up with a fun car that won't run. My other choice was a Lexus SC430. I'm pretty sure Lexus has parts and supports there cars.

have you tried a salvage yard? Or companies that buy only salvage titled cars. you might get lucky.

I find it very upsetting that parts are becoming this kind of problem! Especially something as important as the PCM...one thing if it is a handle or something! I bought this car with the thoughts of driving it little, enjoying it much and keeping it until I'm carried away feet first.....now I wonder how that can be possible. :(

I do not like it either but I think too many people are treating this as the end of the world. If you have not noticed, ALL cars for many years have come across this issue from time to time as they get older. The OEM's are the final assembly point and typically outsource the bits and pieces to many different suppliers. As cars get older, the suppliers move on to more fruitfull production activities until the backlog for demand makes it viable to crank the production line back up. Live with it.

Live with it? that's easy to say when your car is running. Tell that to the guys here that can't find a PCM and have a 20+ thousand dollar brick in their garage.

Thanks to Peter Furlan. After I contacted the local EPA last Monday, and getting a call back from a higher up at the EPA in DC on Tuesday, I provided him with all the paperwork so far on my car. The dealership somehow received a PCM on Friday of last week and my bird is ready for pick up tomorrow morning. Lets hope the 80 mile trip home is uneventful.

Steve, FYI I just checked today at my local dealer with the Part number posted on this site. He looked up all the info and the part is on NAT BACKORDER with 9 waiting.Parts sub supplier( probably Japan) can not get parts. His notes on part was no known date for release of any PCM'S. If the dealer got one after you called EPA, more power to you. There are 0 listed at any dealer in USA.
I agree it is a sad day when we can not get parts for a relatively new car.
Hope the others in US can do the same.
