"brick" - I've always called these kind of things "boat anchors". Just a little humor, but this really is a bad situation; especially if it is your primary mode of transportation.

I've got a 95 Lexus SC model. No problem getting parts for this 16 year old car. Thank goodness it hasn't needed much since they are expensive - maybe even more so than Jaguar. But according to all the reliability reports over the production run of the SC430, it was one of the best built cars sold in the U.S. for about the last decade.

I know. I was just trying to state the obvious...not poke anyone in the eye. Sometimes the truth hurts.
Mine is my daily driver also and I would be just as upset as the others if I had to park it for awhile. However, parts availability is an issue with any older car (especially relatively low volumn) as we have seen numerous times on this forum. The killer on the PCM is that it is vital to operation while many other limited items are cosmetic.

The OEM's are the final assembly point and typically outsource the bits and pieces to many different suppliers. As cars get older, the suppliers move on to more fruitfull production activities until the backlog for demand makes it viable to crank the production line back up. Live with it.
if your problem is a pcm and you cant get one...then it is the END OF THE WORLD as far as the car is concerend.....you end up with a $20k door stop..."as they get older"? these cars aint model T's there 6,7,8, yrs old...there is no excuse for this .....does the LS and jag have the same problem?

                  Re: pcm problem

So, I am still waiting for my PCM from Ford....Been 6 weeks, miss my car. Called Ford Customer Service, they are of no help...How many of us need to be birdless before Ford gets it. I will tell my service rep about Napa...My dealer said they are going to send the PCM out to see if it can be repaired, likely not.

Your Ford dealer may need to program the latest PCM update. Cost $100.

Did not know there was 2 birds laid up with the pcm prob......babyblue...looks like you need to order the part through thru EPA..or your state atty.generals office. nobody ans me about Lincoln or jag, do they use the same part?...that would be nice to know if you could look there. P.S. need to keep this problem amoung ourselves or we wont be able to give these turkeys away....maybe consumers report is smarter than some think.

I feel your pain. In California and waiting 6 weeks for PCM. I am going on facebook and hit up Ford Motor Company for some nasty publicity. Something has to give with this situation. I want my bird back....
