  • First hardtop relay of the year! Fl to Ca

I need to work on getting here. I'm in San Diego and the top is in Naples, Florida. I have read threads about relays but don't know how that works. I guess I can contact a shipper in Florida to get it here too. Any thoughts?
Thought I'd get this started for Chuck!

Chime in Chuck with your time frame if you have one.
This a good time for a relay as tops will be coming off most cars very soon.
How far East would you like to drive to pick it up?
Probably a lot safer than crating and shipping as it will only be handled by Bird owners.

Lets go guys, you know your looking for your first trip of the season!

I posted this on the hard top thread but will put it here too.

Chuck, Depending on how fast you want it I may be able to bring it as far as Texas in May if someone can take it from there.

Anyway, it's a start on a top relay if things fall in place. Looks like that would be about 1/2 way to that point.

Dave, I think that would be a little over a DAY TRIP.

Are you sure? Lets see...2600 miles at 100MPH = 26 hours. Yep...you are right. However, if you step it up a bit to 110 MPH, that comes out to be 23.6 hours so.....go for it.

Ol'Dave never said that he would get the hardtop to CA, just that he would make a FL run.

Last time I headed out West for a TBN event, Desert Thunder II in Vegas, I ended up in LaJolla California then up the coast to Muir Woods.

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't chimed in yet. You're all great for showing interest in relaying the top. I ended up having it shipped. The person I bought it from hooked me up with a shipper in Naples Florida and it just fell into place late last week. I should have the top this week. I'll report back to let you know how it works out. Now that I see how well the relay can work I'll watch to see if I can be part of one in the future. Great way to see different areas and a great excuse to drive the Bird some more! Thanks again everyone. This network of owners is GREAT! Chuck
