  • First ride 2011

Being a member from The Pacific North West today was our first ride in 2011 . What a feeling to be behind the wheel again. Waiting for the P.N.W. Spring Tour later this month .

I'm justa itch'n to take mine out, but thanks to the early Spring snow-storm...we're still wait'n for all of it to melt away. Haven't even fired it up since the first week of December last year. Can't wait...

That first ride top down always feels awsome every year. Like you have a new car.

          Re: First ride 2011

I got mine out Friday night. We were supposed to go driving with our friends who have a 'Vette, but they cannot get their car out due to the mud. But we took the Bird to meet them anyway (for dinner).

This is the year!! So far, I have had numerous issues to deal with since I bought the car in 2008, but this last winter, I think I have gotten through the last of them. Over the winter, I got the exhaust leak fixed, new exhaust tips, new tires, and all the wheels are now damage free.

The car really rides nice with the new tires. They are cheapos by some standards, but they did improve the ride.

The new tips give just a slightly different exhaust tone and look great.

Nice to not have to deal with exhaust smell--no headache, no open windows, etc. Odd that they could not find that leak before.

Nice to have perfect wheels, too. Hoping the old ones will sell.

          Hope my optimism is well-placed!

            Re: First ride 2011

I went for my first ride of 2011 today after installing a new batttery. What a hoot. Couldn't help but floor it a few times to hear that engine roar and feel the thrust. I didn't want to come back home. Oh well there will be lots more days. We have a show and shine and our 3 day tour for the Okanagan Classic T-Bird club coming up on May 28th. Should be lots of fun.
            Cheers,
            Jim

The forecast is for thunderstorms tonight.
That should wash the salt off the roads.
              Insurance goes back on tomorrow.
              Isn't spring time great.

Dunderbird just came back from Maxton NC for a visit to ECTA's Maxton Mile. So, he was supposed to get a bath today. But, 83 degrees in Detroit MI area was too good so instead it was a top down cruisin' day. Felt so goooood!

Got mine out for the first time this year yesterday. It was a record-setting 80 degrees, and the drive was fabulous.

WOW !!!! I can't imagine my bird sitting for months and not moving. I know most people live in the frozen North by choice and many hate the heat, but I still can't imagine why (-:

Finally downloaded pictures from the Maxton NC trip. The guys visited the Backing Up Classics Auto Museum in Concord NC in route. Seems the owner has quite a collection of Corvettes, but also, quite a row of Retro Birds.

Took the top off Sunday getting ready for the forecasted nice weather this week. Put the 'Bird back in the garage, closed the door and BANG! one of the tension springs broke on the door. Have to get it fixed before I can even get the door open.
