The special tool is called a "money extractor" and it looks like this...

        Re: Turn Signal out, cost

mine just went out this morning, driver's side rear taillight.

Got a message on my dashboard, right above the mileage reading, which said "LAMP OUT" or something to that effect.

Please let me know anything I need to be aware of (besides the nut on the long threaded rod) that I need to keep in mind when I do this replacement.

        Thanks.

That's really the only thing you have to deal with.

The manual made it sound like pulling the carpet out of the trunk was a bit iffy in order to get to the lights, and so I was just wondering a little about that.

Well, I got it done, and it was not bad at all. The person who wrote that you need an 11 mm wrench is wrong. This is an American car, and does not use metric tools. I used a 7/16" wrench, and it worked perfectly to remove that tough nut on the very long bolt.

Took about 12 minutes, and the hardest part for me was getting the plastic molding off the inside of the trunk (I had to be careful taking out the 6 push-pins).

Paul, Glad it worked out for you. Not a big job once you figure it out.

That special tool is a deep socket.

I have had each side replaced by two differnt dealers. First time $20, second time paid for the bulb ($5.65) and installed during a $29.00 oil change for free.
