    Re: Inca Gold Market

I have not seen another one on the road here in Orlando.
Quite a few were sent here by Ford and ended up being purchased by other folks out of state.

I did see one on a used car lot last September on the way from Fort Benning to Atlanta but it was pouring rain in buckets and I was traveling at 50 mph so perhaps i could have misjudged and it realy wasn't mustard yellow??

On April 10th you were crass. Now on April 15th you are even more crass. Is this a five day cycle with you or are you always crass?

Hey Art, that comment really resonates with me! Mint green is another awesome color for a T-Bird.

MY VINTAGE MINT GREEN DOES THAT ALSO, BUT I THINK IT IS BECAUSE IT IS GREEN.

                    Re: Inca Gold Market

I'd like to see a poll where we TBird owners vote for our favorite color EXCLUDING the color that we now have.

As for multiple retro owners, you can pick your second favorite color
2010 Explorer Limited Edition, tri color white, camel interior
                    2003 TBird black/saddle
                    1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL conv't turq/black
2004 Lincoln LS 8 Sport light tundra metallic/medium stone

Anyone who owns one of these will probably have the last laugh. They made so few of them that the value will probably be among the highest of any color once our beloved Birds are fully appreciated as collector cars.

                        Re: Inca Gold Market

Inca Gold is a nice color, but not at the top of my list.

However, the assumption of them becoming fully appreciated collector cars is risky. I believe they would be worth more than some of the more common colors but less than some of the desirable collector editions.

However... the bigger question is this: will any retro bird actually become a valuable, collectible piece.

There were other rare, great American cars that have not reached this status such as the Cadillac Allante, Buick Realta, Pontiac Fiero, Chrysler Masaratti porthole coupe, etc.

You need a "mystique" that creates the lore of the model. The original T-Bird's representation of the nifty 50's is one example. The 56 Bird in American Graffiti is a second example.

T-Birds from the 60's (especially convertibles) do have some collectible appeal but then, there are many other cars from the same period that I can say the same thing about (Buick Riviera).

Will these become a really hot collectible? I say "no". Will their resale value level off for a good example? I say "yes".

                        Have a nice day.

                            Re: Inca Gold Market

Some things are rare by design, others are rare due to not being particularly popular at the time. You never know which will win out for collectibility in the long run.

I'm sure Ford would have loved to sell whole lot more than 82 Inca Gold retro birds - but alas that is all the orders they had for the rather unusual color. I'm glad that those that have them, love them. It is obvious that you are in the minority now, but in another 20 years or so you may have the last laugh.

                                Re: Inca Gold Market

Frankly, the future resale price of my TBird really isn't that important to me.

But, from what I've seen on TV auction shows, condition of the car seems to outweigh color.

Options count also, but the retro's are pretty equal when it comes to options.

A big plus would most likely be the removable hardtop.

As for mods, you'll turn the purists off, but attract those that want to be a bit different.

Same can be said for my Saddle interior. Some will love it, others will hate it.

Anyway, let the kids worry about it in my estate sale.
