I know this is a thunderbird site but I really need someones help here. I have a 65 Galaxie and need to decode the vin.
630PM7912D3114 Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Dont think that is the VIN for your '65. What you show is a break down of the body type , color, trim etc.
To break down,
63O is body type code (most likely 63D or 63C but not O); PM is the exterior color code; 79 is the trim code; 12 D is production date; 31 is the DSO (district sales office) ; 1 is your rear axle; and 4 is the transmission code.
Your VIN should be something like this, *5S62X100001*
I used the internet to button down the codes on my 65 TBird. That's how I figured out the Maryland MVA had it titled with an incorrect VIN number. Took me three trips to MVA to get it fixed, then 6 months later I got a notice my tags were being suspended for failure to carry insurance (with the incorrect VIN car). About 6 weeks to fix that. It was a lot of effort for a car I don't think I've driven 120 miles yet.
