I had my knee replaced April 6. I am back at home today and doing great not much pain since thursday night just taking tylenol now. I think we will make the July event in Tenn. The 90 mile trip home today was ok but now I am having some soreness. Contant motion machine really helps I am up to 100 degees today. I had some blood problems (low sodium) Friday so I had to stay an extra night and left for home around 5:30. My doctor Kenneth Kress is the best in Atlanta, GA and St Joesph was great (they were recently named one of the top 50 hospitals in the nations.

Re: Knee replacement
Hi Gary:
From a veteran of the knee replacement challenge, let me wish you the best. I had both done 4 years ago-one on April 2nd, the other on April 4th. I have had absolutely great results. The pain at night when sleeping and when walking long distances is gone. Most of my range of motion was back within a few months. They still get a little stiff from time to time if my legs are in a static position for long periods, such as when driving, but that is quikly shaken off. I firmly believe that the key to my successful recovery was the rehab afterward. It was like boot camp, but you have to do it if you want to get the maximum benefit from the new parts. I remember the therapists having me bend my knees until I thought the bones were going to pop out and the pain was almost unbearable. Then they would tell me "you can do a little more" and manually push them back further. It is a wonder I didn't collapse from the pain. But it worked, and the results have been great. Others that I know that had the procedure that did not take the PT to heart have had issues. My suggestion-whatever the physical therapist(s) tells you to do, whether at home or at a PT session, do it faithfully. Remember the old adage-No Pain, No Gain. It really applies here. Good luck with your recovery and hang in there!

Re: Knee replacement
Thanks, Skip you are right about no pain no gain when you have bent your knee until you can't and then they say just a little more and push. But to all thanks for the good wishes and we will make the Tenn. event.Gary Dawson
