Dual Automatic Temperature Control Unit

On my 02 T-Bird, I tried the self-diagnostic on the Dual Temperature Control head unit by pressing in unison the off and defrost. Then press auto...got nothing. Does the 02's have a self-diagnostic like the 03 - ff. Any ideas.
