For those who can't get ethanol-free gas, this works well in my '75.

How assiduous should we Retro people be about avoiding ethanol use in the 3.9L? What are the dangers of using it?

Our retros are designed to handle it. However, it can cause problems for classic cars.

I bought pure gas yesterday in Cincinnatti. Seems
like I'm getting about 10 more mpg....................

I agree with 007Cruiser. Ethanol (corn alcohol) is actually a cleaner burning fuel. Its also better for the environment (lower emissions). The problem with some older cars is deterioration of rubber parts and gaskets that weren't designed with ethanol in mind. It also cleans out a fuel system so any gunk in the gas tank (left by old/bad gas) will necessitate a change of the fuel filter. I don't like gunk in my trunk so that's a good thing. Okay, that was a bad pun.

Don't use ethanol gas in your motorcycle if you have one. Just caused me to spend $400 to get the 4 carburators on my Honda refurbished. Also the lawnmower had carb problems brought on by this stuff. Can't wait for them to add another 5% to the gas. That ought to really make for some problems. I'm using Starbrite additive in everything but the cars now.

The only place I can find ethanol free gas is at a marina.

WOW This brings back childhood memories as my family was friends of B.G. Dawes and one worked for him. I visited his farm many times as a kid and it is now a state park, but I have not seen it Dawes founded PURE OIL

I just bought some Stabil Ethanol treatment for a 427 Windsor Roush replica Cobra with a carburetor. There are lots of theories and opinions.
Just ask about the new oils or oil additives with zinc and you'll see what I mean.
