HIDs Legal?

Having recently installed HID lights, I'm wondering whether the car will pass NYS inspection. Factory installed HIDs will self-level every time they're turned on. The HID upgrades do not include this feature. Any info on the subject will be appreciated. Thanks for looking.

I have HID's on my Maxima, and they do not self-level. Mine is a 2003.

My 2010 Lincoln MKZ has HIDs. They do not level and they are not manually adjustable. They do turn 15 degrees with the steering wheel.
