Has anyone had problems with the edges of their wheels deteriorating. I got new tires and one is not holding air. The tire dealer said because I live near salt water the wheel is failing and the tire is not setting a good bead. Any thoughts?

Re: deteriorating wheel
There is a thread on that ... several people in the north have had that problem.Unbelivable TBN trips including ALL of the lower 48 States plus 9 Canadian Provinces, 8 European Countries, 3 Caribbean Countries, Countless National Parks and have attended well over 100 TBN Events since 2001 and counting. Best of all ... fabulous friends.

Re: deteriorating wheel
The tire shops will tell you the leaks are caused by the chrome plating peeling or chipping inside along the edge where the tire seals to the wheel. This is easily repaired by a good quality tire shop by smoothing out the edge left jagged by the chrome peeling. The repair does not show outside of the tire seal. The wheel is not damaged. The seal when repaired correctly will last for as long as that tire is on the wheel.
A inconvenience but not a worry. It is easily fixed.Mike

Re: deteriorating wheel
Same here. interior edge of chrome splitting. First repair cost $135 to have the chrome milled off. At thi point I'm sticking a fix a flat until i can spend another $135. I was told it will happen to all of them . . . i believe it.
