  • All Fords at Carlisle 2004 Revisited

Back in 2004 more than 25 TBNers met at Carlisle, PA at the All Ford Nationals
and had a Rally. Many of todays old timers were there and enjoyed among other things, drag racing at the South Mountain Drag Strip. I was reminded of the event when Leisha, Tony Barand, posted this week that he had sold his Blue Bird. Tony won the drag racing contest held among the 02-03 Tbirds that were there. Dino was second and yours truly was third. I went back today to see if the track was still there and it was, and in better shape than it was back then. I've posted a picture of the drag strip as it looks today and my now finished (are they ever finished) 1929 Model A Ford in My Gallery.

Yes, the colors are Andalucite Blue and Black. The blue is laquer and the black is enamel.

Re: All Fords at Carlisle 2004 Revisited

Dino and I were 100th of a second apart!! Interesting as he had cold air induction etc. on his 02.
The 03's and 04's are actually faster.

I went on to put on a cold air from Gary Kimmel, Borla exhausts, SCT computor flash.
Did the same with Patricia's 04, we tried them out at the local drag strip a few times, the 04 was consistantly in the low 14's while the 02 was in the mid to high 14's.

I put new Continental Extreme Contact DW tires on the 04 and it nicely dropped to high 13's. The Michlins smoked one wheel off the line, I can't hardly get the Continentals to break loose!
              Love the tires.

Spun the 02 a couple of 360's with the Michlins, the Continentals are so much gripier it seems the car is on rails! I guess with more grip if it ever goes, it will roll as the tires won't let go!

              Love the tires!!

Great to hear from everyone. Should have a rally in Carlile for the 2012 All Fords!! Bob???

Ten year anniversary of the 02's!!!

That is one nice Model A. Sadly there aren't to many of us left that has ever seen ome. There has to be at least a half million restored ones sitting some where

Re: All Fords at Carlisle 2004 Revisited

So much to answer! We're in Madison, WI for amotor home rally. Visited the Capitol building where all the hubbub occured earlier this year. Union rally's still go on every day at noon. Very family oriented sing-a-longs. Interesting and the Capitol building is magnificent. Anyhow, great to hear from you Tony. I guess I would still come in third with all the stuff you've added. But you still need the trunk mats if you want to beat Dino. Thought about All Fords 2012 but don't want to interfere with David A and Jeannie's plans. The Model A was a long time in restoration. I started it in about 1979. Completely disassembled it and started from the ground up. Got tired in 1984 and I put it away foir over 25 years. It was about 90% done. Thought of selling it several times but never really tried. Then 2 years ago, my wife and my neighbor, also a car nut, encouraged me to get started on re-restoring it. Found a dead cat in the back seat and had to use a lot of Fabreze, vinegar and bleach to get rid of the smell. But then the rest was easy. It started after about a day's work. There was a lot of minor stuff that had deteriorated over the years and most of it showed up only after running and driving it. Anyhow, it is now road worthy and I am able to dtive it to local shows. It is not a trailer queen. It is excellent to take friends and family to get ice cream on a warm summer evening.
