  • Transporting hard top

    Hi all
we recently completed a move. I need to transport my hard top to the new house. Its only a couple miles away. I dont want to put the top on to transport just that far. Any suggestions?

p.s. I have a pick up but is that feasible/safe?

Easier and safer to put it on the car.

Put it on the car, safer and most timely way. It takes a matter of minutes to put on and a matter of minutes to take back off. You would spend more time trying to secure it to prevent damage any other way. I can't imagine transporting it any other way. Transporting any other way, you still have to carry and load it, unload and then place back on the cart / stand.

I guess one alternative would be to tie a rope from your bumper to the hardtop stand.

Wow someone will probably try that, but you didn't say what size rope to use.

              Re: Transporting hard top

When I purchased my hard top It was transported on a car trailer. Put the top on the stand , the stand on the trailer and tie it down with tie straps cris cross on the top. and ratchet them down tight. Mt top was transported this way over 100 miles. It worked fine. The salesman that I got the car from went and got a used top for me and then resold it to me. No damage or anything else. He also put the car top bag over the top too.
              Good luck. Randy

Half inch or more should be enough.

Put it on the car. When you see how great it looks with the porthole, you may just want to drive it that way for awhile!

That's correct! It is a whole different car with the hardtop on it.

I would think it would be harder to get it into the truck bed then it would be to just put it on the car. Why don't you want to put it on the car?

                          Re: Transporting hard top

Sometimes I just have to scratch my head and wonder???? Some of these post are exhausting. There is simply no easier, quicker or safer way to transport a hardtop than on a car it was actually designed for. Be it a few miles or cross country. Plain and simple.

Guess I should add, That's just my humble opinion.
