I have quickly learned to review the NHTSA.gov site for any and all vehicles I am currently reviewing. Also, google, and search ask. Looking for forums and complaints.

posted my 2002 Ford thunderbird on craigslist Houston for sale. Maybe I sell it for what I owe. Retail value is 17500 and I owe 15900. Maybe someone with more knowledge and experience may be able to keep it running and on the road.

Try contacting Ford directly, and don't take no for an answer. The wheel that squeaks the loudest gets the grease.

There used to be a Ford consumer board that you could contact if unhappy with your dealer.

On the downside, they refused to help me with a drivetrain vibration in my new 85 TurboCoupe because the vibration became noticeable over 55 mph.

They stated that that was over the national speed limit (at that time); therefore, they would not become involved.

believe it or not the most I have been offered on trade is $12,500.00 not running. which isn't bad. I only owe $15,907. Although, I have several interested parties on craigslist.
I am currently negotiating with someone to see the car. I have to take it to Houston, 138 miles away.

I agree with Spence...for me, the biggest stressor is just having a vehicle that you just KNOW should work better than this!

That is a voluntary reposession, which is still a repossesion. As a Finance Manager at a Ford dealer I can tell you that a repo of any kind is about the worst thing you can have on your credit history. I get people who once had a bankruptcy financed much easier than you might imagine. A repo and you can forget it.

If you need to repace the TBird I might suggest (if you can do this financially) You will be much better off trading the car in for the tax credit and to offset the negative equity (owning more for the car than its worth) by purchasing a new car with a rebate. A rebate will offset your negative equity and theklenders will look much more favorably at a deal like that.

The X-Plan price you've been offered is fair.

Just offering a suggestion from the Finance Manager's desk.

Guess what!?! Nothing Changed. Still have the same problem.
Listen, I could go on changing sensors all week long. The problem isn't evident and Jasper ford's tech's can't seem to find the issue. The problem is financial. We have spent over $1,000.00 and counting and the car does not run.
Dealer's are only offering $10,500.00 for trade. I currently own $15,962.18 on a car that would normally retail for $17,000 in great shape. I obviously cannot get my money out of the vehicle and I cannot justify continuing poring monies into it. Monies we do not have to spend.

We have been pre approved by Keesler Federal credit union to trade the car in. Just have to decide the best possible deal offered. If someone wants to purchase this car for what is owed, They may. It's sad to loose to the wholesalers, but eventually it would have had to go anyway.
                          Thank your all sincerely

Ronnie, years ago I had a GM product do the very same thing....they changed out the computer. It was giving all the false readings, not the sensors. Good luck.

I PM'd ladyTBird this morning asking the same question. No repy, so far.

Reply Thursday evening--they traded it in for a Toyota Tundra.
                                'Nuff said.
