It may be to late but the pcm is covered under your original warrenty for 8 years of 80,000 miles what ever comes first. Had my 2005 bird in for bad cops ford dealer replaced two of them. Told me car was still not running right, said one of the fuel injectors was bad, needed to be replaced at cost of $400.00. Took it to my Lincoln dealer, said fuel injector was good and that the pcm was bad. Told it was covered under the original warranty, but they are in short supply and could take up to four weeks to get one because there are none in the ford system to be found. Called customer service at ford they talked with the manager of the dealer, In three days the manger called me and said the pcm was to be at the dealership the next day and to bring the car back. By the end of the next day car was ready and running great. No charge all was covered under original warranty. Take it to a Lincoln dealer, Thunderbird and Lincoln LS same engine and built on same platform they see allot of LS the ford dealer only sees a few Thunderbirds.
