      Re: Standing Beside Myself !

I don't drive my Thunderbirds all that often either. But at this point, I figure they're paid for so I may as well enjoy them as they really don't cost me much (insurance cost mostly). I figured after my current daily driver no longer does the job, my grey 03 Thunderbird will be 10 or more years old so I'll probably just make it my daily car at that time.

Mine is a garage queen and gets driven very little, but I very much enjoy it when I do take a drive, and I enjoy looking at it when it's sitting in the garage. I'd never think of selling.

Thank you all for the great comments - all very true and accurate -
Do not see FOMOCO building anything like we have their focus is elsewhere.

I agree that the blog's over repair issues have a tendency weaken one's knees and your brain fails to do the math vs those that don't have issues and just drive on --

Those Sunday afternoon drives remain great and will be enjoyed as weather permits until then the battery tender will keep things "good to go" and the Speed Shine at the ready.

Thank you all again it great to know that I am among a good group of true car nuts that enjoy what they have and Bird people are among the best.

            Re: Standing Beside Myself !

If a car is very well maintained inside and out why would it really matter if it has a few miles miles on it. I have seen several pristine incredibly low-mileage all original cars in Hemmings Classic Car magazine and wonder what is the point of it all. I have also seen many higher mileage classic muscle cars sell on the Mecum Auto Auction that commanded incredible prices. In my opinion if a car is a very well cared for in-demand classic, then many collectors/enthusiasts will pay a premium for it regardless of the mileage.

Bill, my 04 sits in her regal garage queen stall for the majority of 9 months each year with only a few outings.....and sometimes I begin to think like a person who uses cars rationally.......it might break and cost me an arm and a leg/maybe I should just sell her. AND THEN COMES FOOTBALL SEASON.....I'll drive her for 3000-4000 miles chasing my favorite football program, top down most trips, smiling all the way. Damn, I really like this Thunderbird!

If you would like to sell your car, what would be the best price you are asking for??

That will tell you if you will have to keep it or not.

                Thanks,

As a new member I will honor the rules of the group -

The issue is being a "car guy" I have an attachment to the TBird because of may past restoration of a '56 TBird when both the spirit and the body was willing -- The collection of addtional memorabilla for the car and TLC is a testament to that --

The flipside also as a car guy I know there will be down the road issues just because it is what is - some have more issues than other - some not so much --

In my heart I do not believe FOMOCO has the focus to build another 2 seat Halo TBird in the new world enviroment of the auto industry other than a looker at a new car auto show --

All of the comments have hit home and all make great sense and help me realize that I am not one of a few who have a garage queen.

Thank you all for your comments

If you end up deciding to sell and you can wait, convertibles typically sell better in the spring.

Also, if you are worried about breakdowns, get an ESP from Lou!

Then you can let Ford worry about the cost!

If everything goes as planned, I will have eight more years of enjoyment while Ford worries!

Unless part availability is an issue!
Ford will just say it's on backorder while you car sits!

                              That may become a question.

I wonder, if the part is no longer available, would Ford be obligated to find a suitable replacement from another source??? Junk yard???

Maybe concerned TBirders will have to start contributing to "Parts Insurance" where you can get parts from damaged birds that have been purchased by clubs or the like???

Bill, I would keep the car and enjoy it as much as you can.
Here is why. I just came back from a 3000 km/2000 mile trip to and through the UK. I own my Black '02 for 6 years now, it has 100k on the meter and it still gives the same thrill as it did when I first got it. The best part of the fun on this trip is driving the car.

I even left with a COP issue, which really is not a big thing if you know how to deal with it. Changed a COP twice on the road and had fun all the way after that.
I cannot count the numbers of thumbs up, pointing fingers and admiring looks I had along the way, but it sure makes this car fun to drive.

You can keep it in your garage, but in the end parts will still be hard to find when you need them. Even if you do not use it, after so many years you are going to need some parts to get it on the road and running properly. In a few years that will be the same for all of us. But at least the ones that drive it can say they had the fun that was ment to be.

What can I say more..bring that Yellow beauty to TBN Ten Thunder and find out how much fun that is.
