Still winning after 9 years

[YLO BRD]

I entered YLO BRD in the 23rd annual Mustang Memories and all Ford car show on 8/7. Much to my surprise, I won a class award. I was in a class of all Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, stock and modified from 1980 til present. I took 2 days to wax and detail her to look her best and, it seems to have worked. This is the largest Mustang show in this part of the United States, this year drawing 733 cars, 150 Boss Mustangs (who also attended a 3 day reunion). This was the Bullit anniversary, and the 2 Bosses for the Healing Heros Network were given away. What a day of excitment! I worked hard all morning at the pre-registration tent and saw lots of beautiful cars. Again the weather gods were good to us and it was a beautiful Michigan summer day.

Congratulations... You never know for certain what will cause the judges to swing a vote your way. Is this how you helped get your votes?

I plan on entering my car this Saturday (weather permitting) with the Chicagoland Thunderbirds. Haven't entered a contest in 2+ years. Just got tired of being "fried" in the sun all day.

Congratulations Joanne. I went to the show (as spectator) and saw your awesome yellow Bird but could not locate you. Great show this year; all your hard work is appreciated.

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes, the show was lots of fun but also tons of work for everyone involved. Mustangs of course are the highlight and there are so many beautiful ones to see. Dot, there was only one other retro bird there, a MSG, I remember her winning an award last year but, nothing this time, you just never know. When I first got YLO BRD, I'd take her to all the shows and have won quite a few awards. I'm another one that has a hard time spening the day in the hot sun in an asphalt parking lot. Rusty, just wish I looked like that model, my win came from good old fashioned cleaning. Bill, I do remember Carlisle in 2005, one of our favorite times. Even though that win was 3rd place, I cherish it because of the status Carlisle means. It rained cats and dogs so, there wasn't much competion. Sorry we missed you Brian, Dan and I both worked regisration until about noon, sat down to rest and grab a bite to eat. We walked the show and stopped to talk with friends. Had to leave early because we had to pick my nephew up at the airport and I also had some sick dogs at home. I cleaned her off again, covered her up so shes ready for the next adventure. After all these years, this car still makes me smile.
