  • Pre-Dream Cruise

Our local TBird club held its annual Pre-Dream Cruise on Sunday (the real Dream Cruise is Saturday, 8/20). While we welcome all years of TBirds, we had a majority of retro Birds on Sunday. We cruised north on Woodward Avenue to The Moose Preserve for dinner and dodged the threatened thunderstorms!

Saturday will be the 17th Dream Cruise on Woodward Avenue, historic cruisin' highway from the '50's. It's billed as the world's largest one day rolling car show attracting one million spectators and 40,000+ cruisers. And to think it all started in 1995 as a fund raiser for a soccer field in Ferndale MI!

    Re: Pre-Dream Cruise

I attended this cruise and it was wonderful. 60 people called in advance for this cruise. Included a nice drive up Woodward Avenue. Almost all the colors of the retro birds were there.

Sounds like a wonderful day you all had there Paul, and good to see you posting again.
Perhaps next year you could send us a notice and some of our Ontario group could join in on the fun. I sure would be tempted.

        Hi Martin,

We have a couple of members from Ontario that attend several events each year, Jim & Hilda Moe and Ken & Shirley Mailloux.

We'll post the cruise next year. It's a fun time for all.

          Martin,
We do have a cider mill cruise up the Edward Hines Parkway on October 9. This is about a ten mile drive thru a two lane parkway with only about 3 traffic lights. Last year we had 102 people participate. We go to a a nice restaurant in Northville and after dinner, we go to the cider mill in Northville. Attached are a couple of photos from last year.

Sounds like a fun day Paul. Think I have heard of this one before. My calander is quite full for the rest of the year or would love to come out for that one.
We had our Bayfield event a number of weeks ago and had over 100 birds on the field. With our clubs / areas being so close, we should have more get togethers and there is no excuses with these retro birds now being in our fold. Will try to remember to bring this subject up at our annual exec. meeting this fall.

Enjoy the event and keep us posted with pictures and stories.

While the weather tried to threaten on Sunday, 8/14, we managed to gather a group of TBirders for our cruise. Here's a link to pictures. We had a great turn out of Retro Birds . . . as one member commented, "TBird Rainbow"!
