For others that still have clean clear covers. KEEP THEM WAXED!! I have an 05 BMW Z4 and if you know Bimmers - they are notorious for detioratiing headlight covers. Once I polished them up to clear, I kept them waxed and they stayed clear. Luckily my 03 Bird lenses are very good. I suggest, if clear, never using any abrasive or even a cleaner wax. Just pure wax. I use McGuires finishing wax. I try to do it once a week.

I've found protective pieces that specifically claim to prevent hazing. For $40 you get covers for both headlights and SPLs.

Buff Magic on a rotary buffer. You can buy it on line. made to remove oxidation from gel coat. won't damage the plastic.

....I think the composite headlight cover maintenance is universal to all brands....however you do that is up to you....the NewBirds deal with intense heat from the engine bay...which also affects the inside of the headlight assembly....be prepared for big cost and availability for replacements....In a moment of "let's replace them" a few years ago...they were $600.00 CDN for the left and $500.00 for the right....or vice versa....with no explanation for the cost difference.....and at the end of the day...It's an old daily driver....that still looks good with it's occasionally polished outer surface headlight covers......

I found replacements that are not OEM, but also only cost $77 each on Amazon.com. I have not seen them, so the link picture and description is all I can offer, hope it helps.

Toothpaste worked on my 94 headlamp covers.

Haven't had to clean the retro covers.

Try a small section and see what happens. What have you got to lose?

And it smellls good to !!!!

3M makes a headlight cleaner system that works very well. It has everything you need except a drill to use with the buffing wheel that comes with the kit. The kit is available at several auto parts stores and runs for around $25 and will complete several treatments.
