I was watching an old 1960 sci/fi movie, "The Time Machine" with Rod Taylor.
In the movie, as he goes forward in time from 1899, he stops at different years. One year is 1966, which is six years in the real future for a movie released in 1960.
In "future" 1966 is a scene with "future" cars.
One car is an MG, but two other cars are TBirds, one from the 55/56/57 generation and one from the 58/59/60 era. (In the background is another car which could be a 55/56 Merc or a late 50's Packard; tough to tell from just the headlights and an obvious fake grille.)
Was it a coincidence, or did the 1960 movie makers look for a present car that would look at home in 1966, and then select the TBirds?
Guess we'll never know.

Spotted a black 1955 thunderbird on the TV series “Thriller” by Boris Karloff (odd because the show was made in 1960 and used a 55 Bird). The episode was called Worse than Murder.
Christopher's girlfriend in The Soprano's had a Blue Reto Bird till she got wacked. Christopher packed her stuff and dumped it and left the TBird in the parking lot at the airport. Told everyone she left him.
Opfra's Tbird was blue, which is why she wanted to borrow my Red one for the Bono show....but she wasn't willing to agree to fix my car if she wrecked it.
Unless she kept the one they got from a dealer for the show.
I watched the clip carefully but almost missed the Tbird. I was looking for one in his garage, stupid me, twenty years from now it would have been in Jay Leno's garage, not yet. Anyway then I spotted it on the far left as Jay was driving the Lambo on the Interstate out in California. The sound of the Espada was great, but so is my Tbird, now. I'm lovin' the Borlas!
