I visited many showrooms in 2002. A lot of them had retros, some even roped off so that a potential buyer had to lean over to see the dash.

Beautiful cars, but nothing really struck my eye (I was still kicking around the Marauder).

Then, I saw a 2003 roadtest on TV using a black/saddle retro, and spotted one on the lot of two different dealers.

One dealer threw in the Z plan, and I went for it. Didn't even consider another combo.

I still wish they had included a bit more saddle in the interior (not a full interior in saddle; just certain pieces).

I've noticed in recent car magazines that saddle interiors are getting a lot of exposure.

the 007 sold me on the t bird... i wanted one soo bad. i just couldn't pull the trigger on a full white interior. i picked out a MSG with saddle and was almost ready to buy when i found out about the VMG... sold. if i had it my way i would have a 007 with black interior and white inserts.

YES! I looked all over for the Light Ice Blue with the full sand interior and found one!

Same color as my 57 bird--exterior.

I've always liked white cars w/black tops (convertible or 1960s vinyl) so the answer is yes! When I saw it in the showroom, I knew that it was mine:)

I always wanted a Thunderbird Blue 2002 but I found a Pacific Coast Roadster and really love the colour combination. I get many comments as many people have never seen one

I can't decide if I would prefer the black soft top rather than the tan but I'm still in love with my bird. I wish it didn't have the tan interior though as it is so hard to keep clean when it is a daily driver.

Re: Is your T Bird the color you really wanted?

I really fell in love with the black with full red interior concept car. I had never owned a black car at that point (I thought it was too hard to keep clean to my standards as a daily driver color), but have always liked the black with red interior combination. I also really liked the chromed wheels on that concept car.

When the production car came out with only the red inserts in the seats and the 21 spoke wheels were only chromed on the NM version, I was somewhat bummed out, but still would have liked a black one.

Long story short, I could only find the red available anywhere in the area without having to wait several months to take delivery or pay a huge mark-up over sticker. We did not want to do either so we took the red one that had been ordered by someone that couldn't afford to get it as they lost their between ordering it in January and its delivery in November.

We love red cars and have owned several, so red was not a let down at all and after 10 years I wouldn't trade it for any of the other colors that were made including black. Ebay supplied the NM wheels so all is well on that front as well. Other colors may be more rare, but none have been used more to advertise the retrobirds or represent them in diecasts. In fact, none even come close. Besides that, everyone knows red T-birds are the fastest. (Ok, Ron time for you to chime in )

I don't know why but I never really noticed retro birds on the road before I got mine. First saw the VMG in the Ford Dealers showroom in 2007 when I wandered in from the service area where the Expedition was getting serviced. It was love at first sight. I first thought they had put a Fifties Bird in there, but as I got closer saw it was not. I cannot imagine owning a retro bird in any other color. The VMG is a rare color and I may be prejudiced, but I think it is the best color and really complements the whole retro idea. I don't think I would own one in any other color. It goes well with the pink fuzzy dice hanging off the rear view mirror. I know, I know, yours is the best color not mine, but as old Sly Stone of The Family Stone said "different strokes for different folks."
                            WHATS THE WORD? THUNDERBIRD !!!

Yes - Thunderbird Blue. For me, there is no other color. Love at first sight. I ordered it and hounded the dealer by email, until one day he responded, "I spy with my little eye, something blue." That was a joyous moment! I still adore the color, get lots of compliments, and can find it very easily in a parking lot among the sea of grays, whites and blacks.

Re: Is your T Bird the color you really wanted?

Lynda and I started looking in 2002 at the new birds. We just kept looking until 05 and then we picked our favorite colors. Yellow with the yellow accent interior, Thunderbird Blue with the blue accent interior and the Merlot with tan interior. I found a Thunderbird Blue but the seller sold it to someone else and then I found a Merlot in Texas on Ebay and got out bid at the end.
Then there were none close by within 300 or 400 miles in the color combinations I wanted. But I got lucky and called about a Merlot in Columbia MS. with 2500 miles told him I would take it and be there on Saturday afternoon to pick it up. It is on the home page at the top now. Great car that we love to cruise around in. Yesterday, I cruised with my Granddaughter and she wanted the top down so we did. Weather here has been great for the last 2 days.
