Re: Is your T Bird the color you really wanted?

I wasn't looking for a color or a TBird, but when this one happened to be in a showroom I liked what I saw and still do, so the answer is yes for me.

Yep. Sort of. We ordered a different color than Torch Red when the order bank opened on January 10, 2001. We had narrowed our choices to Torch Red and the other color. Having not seen either color yet in the final production version, it was difficult to make a choice. We knew that color hues might have changed from what we saw at the Detroit car show in '99, other car shows, Tbird club showings, etc. We selected the other color. Several weeks later we went to the Baltimore car show where a Torch Red with full accent interior was on display. That sold us on the Torch Red. I contacted my dealer to change our order the next day. There have never been any regrets over our choice.

PS: I am not indicating the "other color" because I don't want ruffle any feathers. The other color would have been OK if we could not have made the change. But Torch Red was always a consideration and I am very happy with the ultimate decision.

Skip, if we all liked the same colors, cars, houses, TV shows, sports teams, etc, it would be a pretty boring world.

        But, I understand your point.

I know that some like my car's saddle interior, some don't, and some don't care one way or the other.

1960's Impalas draw many more lookers than my Galaxie. Their loss.

        Doesn't bother me at all.

              Jerry:
Next one will be one of the blues. Or a PCR. Or Merlot. Or Cashmere. See what I mean? Sooooo many colors. Makes a decision real easy. Or a big challenge. But there ultimately is no wrong answer. Some just might be preferable over others.

And those late 50's early 60s Galaxies, Fairlane 500s, etc., seem to finally be getting the attention they deserve. Have you seen the knockout '58 Fairlane on the cover of the 2012 NAPA calendar? Also, I was in a local Wendy's for lunch with another car guy buddy last week when a '62 Galaxie 500 convertible pulled onto the lot. Everyone commented to the driver/owner when he walked into the restaurant as to how good it looked. Even the non car folks in the group.

                  Jim:

Keep an eye out in the Mid-Atlantic Forum for our activities. Some might be close enough for you to consider. We'd sure like to see your "custom" retro Bird.

Absolutely. I loved the VMG from the first time I saw it. The only other color I like are the light blue metallic and the Cashmere but I like the small number of cars they made with the VMG exterior. I hate the seats, though. Tough, cardboard like leather.

I really didn't think I would buy a Black anything in South Carolina where cars get so hot sitting in the sun. But when I saw "Annie" with the Tan top and the light sand interior, I just fell for her. Today everytime I see a Tbird that is a different color I think, I wouldn't mind that color, it looks great. In fact I can't think of a color I wouldn't like if it was on a 2002-2005 Thunderbird, and No, I'm not running for political office!

My 1967 Corvette Big Block 427 Roadster with hard and soft tops, that I had for 25 years was Marlboro Maroon (Burgundy). So the 2004 Merlot with the sand interior was my choice and I love it. The Pacific Coast would have been my second choice.
