  • 1st long trip

We are in the 2nd week of our 8 week trip with our Tbird. We had the Power Steering Pressure Switch go out on the 1st day (thanks Gary for the info on the repair ). Today I replaced the Mirror Control Switch ($18.00).(Thanks to J. Mitchell for the post on 4/15/11 )
Thanks to all who have posted the "How to guides" on TBN. You never know when you will need them.
I hope that the COP's make it on the trip but I'm watch for them.
We are enjoying the Tbird on this trip.

Ed: Can you post your rough itinerary? It would be interestig to know where you are going over the 8 weeks.
Unbelivable TBN trips including ALL of the lower 48 States plus 9 Canadian Provinces, 8 European Countries, 3 Caribbean Countries, Countless National Parks and have attended well over 100 TBN Events since 2001 and counting. Best of all ... fabulous friends.

David: Most of the time will be spent in the Santa Cruz, CA area as we are spending time near our daughter and her family. We have a little condo at Capitola, CA about 2 blocks from the beach.
Then we will go down to San Diego for a week and then maybe to Las Vegas for another week .
We may go home on 40 and make a stop at the Grand Canyon for a few days.
We're up to 24400 miles.. don't think we'll catch up with you on this trip.

Ed sounds like you are having a good time. I bet you are loving having the T-bird with the top down potential of southern California. Be sure and post some pictues of the places you see during your trip.

We'll have to get together sometime in March after you get back home. You know Rosetta doesn't need much of an excuse to go to Branson.
            21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !

If you are going to the Grand Canyon, stop at Grand Canyon West and go on the Skywalk. You will not be disappointed.

                Re: 1st long trip

My Wife and I are leaveing Jan. 30th for a two week trip to San Diego. We thought about taking the TBird but decided it was too small for all our stuff and we need room for a third person when we get there. So we're taking the new truck, 2011 GMC SLT Crew Cab 4x4. It's not going to get the mileage the TBird would but it will be more comfortable I think in the long run, it's loaded with leather, heated seats, sun roof, XM, Blue tooth, On-Star and plenty of room. Of course we'll take a lap-top along with us too. I'm plannig our stops now. It's going to be fun. Leroy

                      Re: 1st long trip

All sound like fun. My wife and I have learned that by using smaller, flexible luggage that we can easily pack for a week for both of us. It doesn't leave room for a lot of shopping :-) while traveling. Trip over two weeks means doing laundry which isn't so bad. I have found the car to be a great traveler! No problems to date.

I'm so sorry you all are getting to California just in time for our winter to start! Honestly, we haven't had rain all winter, it's been (cool) top down weather, but still top down weather.... We need the rain badly, but I'm sorry you have to drive in it!

We took no luggage and did not ship anything.

We used the vacuum bags and we were able to take all the clothes Diana want. (Almost). We are learning to travel with less. I'm thinking I will get a luggage rack in the near future.

Yea, weather's been crappy, at least you'll have sunshine from today on.

I'm in Hollywood right now, yet will be home tonight. I'll check here tomorrow.
