  • Cold air induction for 2005 Cashmere-972

O.K. Guys and Gals I need some input. I am seriously thinking about putting cold air input system on my Bird. Need the following
    (1) Suggestions on what brand?
    (2) Cost of same?(for actual system)
    (3) Labor cost?
    (4) What can I expect?:sound wise, power wise, and improved gas mileage.
    (5) Testimony from those of you that have system on car.
    Thanks, Bosco.

You can get a wealth of input about CAI systems by going to the Search option shown in the blue bar above and enter "CAI" in the search box. This topic has many threads covering the subject and I used it extensively when I was making a decision about installing a CAI system on Vintage Merlot.

K & N on both my Moondoggie & Goldilocks. I did not install it on MD; Don Fox did, so I do not know what he paid. I also don't know what Charley paid for the one for Goldi (it was a Christmas present), but installation was free, since I did it myself. Sound is wonderful, power is good, gas milage is slightly better, having been able to compare Goldi before and after...maybe 1-3 miles per gallon, depending how heavy my foot was!

I agree, with Roger, thank goodness. The vintage merlot is a show bird, not a runner.

Put one of everything on the vintage merlot and I will see you in Nashville. David will find a place to quieten you. And starting in reverse will not be an acceptable excuse.

                          Hey Bosco!

In my '05 Torch Red I've installed a K&F filter, NOT an intake, rather I just replaced the stock Ford filter with the K&N. Compared to the '02, the '05 really sounds quite aggressive. Probably added about 1/2 of a HP, who knows?!

Thanks, Lindy. Is there any problem that you know of when re-oiling the filter? I read somewhere that if you donot get it just right the bird will go into limp mode.Bosco

Cecil, I have this on my 02 for several years now. Cleaning and oiling the filter is easy, just follow the instructions. I have never had a problem with this type of filter. I have had them on several cars and two jet skies over the years with no problems.
