Seems to me, a queen size sheet or soft blanket stitched up the sides to make a bag like cover would do just as well, maybe even better than spending $60.00. Just my two cents worth

this is what I use a thick quilted blanket and a strap wrapped around it. It is cheap and much thicket than my original cover.

Good points on making one, I will give that some serious thought.
Reminds me of my first car a '50 Ford convert. Bought with top down and when got it home amd put the top up it was full of holes. I made one out of a shower curtain. Looked like crap but kept rain out.

I really like that idea but is 6' x 6.5' big enough to cover the entire top?

If you sew two flat sheets together, King or Queen will do the trick- all while leaving adequate room for trimming to a nice clean fit. Go to check out your oldest flat sheet sets and get to sewing! Good excuse for new bedsheets for a good nigh't rest.

                      Re: Hard top storagew cover

I bought a piece of furniture awhile back that came with a dust cover made out of the kind of fabric like they staple to the bottoms of upholstered furniture to hide the springs and stuff. Its thin and very soft. I saved it to use for a cover for when I finally manage to get the top off. Hopefully next week. If that doesn't work I have several old blankets not in use, way cheaper than the commercially made cover.
