Actually, I had a less costly alternative for lugging Home Depot stuff:

Brother in law "A" lives nearby and drives a new Edge.

Brother in law "B" lives in the same town as I do and has an Explorer; his son has an older Explorer and a new Ford pick up truck.

But, these options don't take into consideration the money that the 94 Bird needed with regards to repair. Repair costs would have been much more than the car's value.

I definitely agree. It was time to let the 94 Tbird go - it was done. Even excellent maintenance which it had can not keep them going forever. I will feel the same way about our 95 SC300 when it is time to say good-bye; especially since it had the added sentimental value of being a 30th wedding anniversary gift to my wife.
