You paid more than half of what a 3 year Premium ESP warranty would've cost for just one repair. Good Luck?

Values on the retro Birds seem to be all over the place, and hard to figure. I look on E-Bay Motors every once in a while, just out of curiosity, and rarely, if ever, does one go for under $21,000. Two summers ago, I looked at an '05 50th Anniversary edition at a dealer in Wilkes-Barre. It had 26,000 miles on it and he wanted $26,000. I cringed a little bit, but the guy laughed at me and said it would be gone in a few days. Two days later, it was gone. The summer before that, I looked at a black one at a dealership in Hazleton. It was an '02, had about 65,000 miles on it and was priced at $18,000. I took a few days to number crunch, decided I could afford it, went back to buy it, and it was already gone. So, I don't know that $26,000 is high. They're fantastic cars, so if you really want one, whatever you pay for it, it's probably worth it. Chances are pretty good you won't make any money on it anyway, because you very, very rarely make money on a car. I've had, I guess, 30 cars in my life, and the only one I made money on was a '67 Galaxie 500 with a cracked frame I bought for $20 30-odd years ago. I stripped it and sold it for parts. In my case, I expect to have my Bird for good, so the $21,000 I paid for it was, to me, money well spent.

The longest I recall one sitting on a lot in NE Fl. is about 2 weeks, but a wide range of price. It's hard to figure a true price at a dealer as many are sold with a trade in and it may be a low one.

            Dash Lights
When I bought it my 2002 black on black, May 7, 2012 the dealer told me it had been in water.... thats all I know. It looks nice inside and out. Then my insurance company looked up the car and told me there had been a $18,800.00 insurance pay off on it from the previous owner. The dealer told me they picked it up in an auction. Anyway it had set on his lot since last Veteran's Day in November. I saw it then but he was asking more than I wanted to pay for it. Well I found out he still had it by the last part of April ...had dropped his price another thousand or so. Anyway May 7th I took some cash money up to bargin with. Got at what I thought it was worth AS IS! Great buy on it considering what I see them selling for. No gas in it, I picked up a battery and stuffed it in. Cranked it up let it set and idle for a good hour or so. Then drove it around and it ran fine. Bought it as is. Drove it home from Houston to Corpus Christi, Texas and it ran great out on the highway. I have had a BMW 301 Convertible Roadster driver yell over at me telling me "I have a great looking car, where did I get it"? "Its Rare"!!! "Take care of it". I sure like driving it around . But my dash lights are DARK in the evenings. But I carry a flashlight so far. Try and buy your car as is, you will be rewarded how very reasonable you might pick it up for.
