    Re: Transport scam

This is the reason I chose NOT to accept the Ford dealership offer to ship DW Tbird from PA to TX and instead contracted Plycar to p/u and deliver for me...cost a bit more, but the 2002 with 1891 miles on it looked like it rolled off the dealer floor when it was delivered and the mileage was correct.

Doesn't do you much good now and I do hope you get some resolution, but if anyone else reads this, maybe they will investigate plycar. They are the only ones I trust and they come highly recommended from someone who uses them at least twice yearly to ship their high end vehicles from coast-to-coast...(1 home in NJ and 1 home in Carmel)

I used FedEx for my Backdraft Cobra delivery (enclosed shipping) and Reliable for my 2002 Thunderbird seven years ago. The Backdraft came from CT in November 2010. Wife's yellow Thunderbird came from Broward, FL from a Ford dealer.

My parents bought a 981 mile Grand Marquis from Dyer Volvo in Atlanta over the phone on Friday pm and it was delivered Saturday am in Jonesboro, AR. The car had 981 miles when delivered but I just can not remember the shipper but they were recommended by Dyer Volvo. Wonderful story for my dad and mom.

I was pleased with every transport transaction and saddened to hear about your story.

The quality of service and customer satisfaction varies from year to year, destination and delivery drivers.

Telephone calls might be a good and inexpensive form of revenge as well as forums like this.

        Hello Greg,

I wonder what city the Ford Dealer was in? I would love to know that. We would never think of calling them.

Thanks everyone for the input. I spoke with Ford Consumer Relations division today and they will contact the dealer on my behalf. We'll see what happens.

As the Attorney said, you couldn't hire an attorney due to the cost to prosecute the case but there is always small claims court.

Pursuing BBB claims against all of those involved will give you a lot of free information about who did what when as they all try to blame each other.

Regarding the scratches, there should be an inspection report from each carrier. They do that so they are not responsible for damage. If you have them or demand them from each handler, you shold be able to trace where the scratches originated. If it was at the dealer, then they will be on the report from the first carrier.

Each time I ship a car, the driver goes over it with a fine tooth comb noting every tiny paint chip and mark on the car. I get a copy and he keeps a copy. There is no question if and where damage occurred.

Once is is determined that a certain carried scratched the car, his insurance company is responsible. They all carry pretty heavy insurance.

If we find out the shipper and dealer are not going to give you any relief, maybe we should ALL email each company and tell them how disapointed we are and that we intent to spread the word. One disatified customer can only tell so many people, but a 1000 can tell a lot of people. Also think about making a You Tube video, This has brought a lot of BIG company's to there knees when a customer has told there story and it is viewed by 10s of thousand viewers. It really does work!

A complaint to the CA Motor Vehicle Dept. and/or CA DOT might be another consideration. Somebody has to license and regulate these carriers.

                    Re: Transport scam

Good luck getting anything out of Ford. I had an issue in 2002 when I took my 64 T-Bird into a Ford dealer to have an Exhaust manifold gasket installed and I took them the part. Since I have 3500 miles to travel home I really wanted the trip home to be quite.

The service manager told the receptionist through the intercom to tell me to take that piece of sh-t off his lot and find a Mexican to fix it. I had just won several trophies at a VTCI event in California with the car. This would never have happened in any other State. When I got to Salt Lake City the local Midas shop fixed everything and threw in a free oil change to boot.

My letters to the dealership owner, the Ford Regional Offices and Dearborn all got me the same response...............nothing, nothing at all!

                    Good luck with that!

Wow, that's pretty steep! I paid $350 to Lund Cadillac from Phoenix, AZ to Rochester, NY. It took 5 days and the car looked pretty good:
