Re: Optimum Fuel for '03-'05 T-Bird?

I have converted my VMG to run on coal. Upside is that it is cheap to run. Downside is the exhaust is very smoky, my wife gets tired when I accelerate and she has to shovel coal in faster through the glove box. I think my carbon footprint is probably about a size 16.
    WHATS THE WORD? THUNDERBIRD !!!

The Stanley Bros. already tried soething like that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_car capable of about 127 mph

But seriously, I would concur with "Billie," as mid last week, the tank of my '05 was on empty, so I added about 4 gallons of Shell V-power 91 Octane (no ethanol). The pinging went away and the performance improved! In the past, I only was careful about the octane, but now I'll always see to it that the fuel going in is 91+ AND free of ethanol.

No such thing as ethanol free here.

up to 10% / Ethanol up here too!

We have an ethanol plant right here in corn country, so I guess I am supporting the local farmers. Doesn't make me feel any better about it however.

The only good news is that the retrobirds are designed to handle the ethanol.

Straight up Cutty Sark on chrushed ice.

You must have had to put in 89 octane with ethanol to get poor mileage.

And as for hot roding, maybe, driving VW bus for 35 years had somethung to do with it. Anyway I only passed 4 cars one time. after that I set the limit to 3. I never did learn to burn rubber.

I traded the 300c Hemi in for a pickup with 395HP. Not as much fun as the 300C.

Straight up (no sissy ice for me).

As to the octane question, I had a situation once that I could not get high octane gas and had to use regular gas, there was no ping, but the mpg was reduced by about 20%. So if Ford says 91+ octane is right, that is good enough for me.

As far as for passing a lot of cars at once who cares, we are retired and cruising in style.

It's like the hot rod guys who burn rubber, what's the sense if you have to replace your expensive tires earlier.

God did I just say that out loud?

Darn, I think I grew up to be my father.........when did that happen?

Is it my imagination or does your spelling of 'crushed' indicate it may be time to step away from the bar?

                      Yep,
You are right and I usually drink it before the ice melts. Maybe I should let it dilute some before I restart with a frosty glass and more crushed ice.

By the way we used to have a spell checker option. What happened to that?
