Re: Thunderbird Trunk Mat Club Members

I've never been much of a joiner, so just how exclusive is this club? Can I get free golf cart rentals, if I join? Since I bought neither the Trunk Mat, nor the Floor Mats-- they were gifts from my rich daughter--can I still be in the club? . . . Please? . . . I need more initials behind my name. Thanks, and have a nice day.

At first look I was never so disappointed in any car accessory as I was in the trunk mat. Thought I was buying a cover that would cover the entire trunk area keeping the carpets clean and fresh.

Only after reading about the significant performance gains was I comfortable with what I purchased. Thanks Rusty for the performance lesson.

I purchased one about 7 year ago for my 02 Torch Red and removed it when I sold the car. Now I have it in my 03 Whisper White with Red Top. I think it looks nice and a lot of our New England members have them.

Ice Blue Man, 2004 Ice Blue One of 21 built with all options. Like the looks of the trunk mat especially at shows.

Well, we kept our's when MMM had to go. Will be the first "Performance" mod on our next one. Come to think of it now, probably why MMM kept showing up on Craigslists so often, no power gains in her.

Just gotta say that other than the significant horsepower gains, the trunk mat is without a doubt the worst mod I have ever done to any car owned. Know I'll take a ration of you know what for that comment.

Doug, You might want to remind club members to routinely vacuum their trunk mats. The performance on my car was way down and I was afraid it was COP's but it turned out to just need a good cleaning. And as a reminder the Ford ESP does NOT cover that!

My trunk mats are as pristine as when they were purchased several years ago.

Do you ever open the trunks to look?

.....I don't use the trunk mat anymore because, in order to keep the car operational, I have to connect/disconnect the battery.

The Ford mat covers more area than the after market mat, try to find one of those.

No reason to open the truck it's 99.9% of the time in the garage under covers and when it does come out its beautiful weather. Here is one time shot of it outside:

But I do open the doors, however, not very frequently.

Re: Thunderbird Trunk Mat Club Members

I've monitored these posts with envy over the years and recently become an inadvertent member of the trunk mat club through a recent group item purchase. I'm also a member of the behind the seat mat club (I really like that one).

I realize I will most likely be voted out of the club for this crazy talk but I didn't realize that the trunk mat doesn't match the color of the material in the trunk.

I realize it's all about performance and not looks, but still..
