  • Found! Windshield reveal moulding (chrome surround)

I have read many posts about replacing the windshield reveal moulding and come to the conclusion that if you want the right hand side you're out of luck, although the left and top are inexplicably still available. Rexster314, in a reply to Redpepsi mentioned that he had ordered a set for a 2003. I started looking around and sure enough, they are easily available for 2002-03. I was told by a Ford parts person that they are listed to fit cars manufactured between 5.9.03 -7.18.05, so apparently the 2002 must have some difference.
Bottom line, now you don't need to anguish over whether to paint, re-chrome, or finding used; you just need to anguish over approximately $130 per piece. Blue Springs Ford said no problem getting them, ask for Steven. Other Ford places also had them listed. When looking for parts that are year interchangeable it might be worth looking at different years. Now, if only the electronic modules were like this.....?????? In any case, enjoy!

    Good find!

Great heads up about looking for parts in various years, not just the year of your own build year.

      Nice detective work Merlot4 !
As part of our 2013 holiday sue and I will be in Memphis for 3 days and ditto New Orleans in early march 2013 .
Can anybody recommend a ford dealership in either city which would be easy to access and purchase said windscreen trim parts ?
We wont have a hire car so essentially a city centre dealer would be ideal .
      Cheers

It would probably be easiest for you to have the parts sent to your place of lodging, just make sure they know to expect a delivery for you since it will be UPS or FedEx. Also make sure the time you order will match the time you're there! Probably most dealerships will need to order the parts, so allow time if this is how you want to do it; it might be easier to use Google (US) and order. The place I mentioned can get the parts next day and it, or a similar site others can recommend might be your best bet. Look on Google Maps and see what dealerships are around your area. You may need help to get a regular number for you to call to place an order since you probably can't call 800 numbers from the UK. Enjoy your stateside trip and good luck obtaining the parts! While you're at it, take a look at thunderbirdconcepts.com and http://www.powersportcars.com/

Did they give you the part numbers? Curious if they are different then any previously posted.

No, my connection at the time was not very good. I'll have to call back and see, you have a good point.

I called Bluesprings Ford back and got the following part numbers:
                Left side: 3W6Z-7603137BA
                Right side: 3W6Z-7603136BA
                Top: 3W6Z-7650046AA
He said they should fit all models including 02 since it was revised. Someone else will have to find out how accurate this is, but it sounds OK for the other models.

Please see post 11 regarding right and left side.

My August 2004 Mitchell collision book shows you have the correct part nos. for all 2002-4 Thunderbirds. Prices for the side mldgs. were $88.27 back then and the upper mldg. only 26 cents more.

I just bought all three parts and they are exactly as indicated in the referenced note (although right and left is subject to interpertation- in this case left is drivers side in the US). Looks like parts were produced in 2008, so at least as late as 2008 they were making replacement parts.

Great, Ed, I'm glad this information helped. Thank you for noting that the left side is the driver's side, I'll modify my information to reflect this.

Wanting to know if all this chatting is just about the "chrome" pieces or do they include the "black" weather strip under the chrome or are they all the same?
I have been trying to find just the top center "black" weather strip(if I am calling that correctly) mine center one is bent up and looks like s$%t, but when I try to find it they tell me it is all one piece, where I can clearly see a split in the same places as the chrome.
                          Does anyone know fir sure????

                            First,
I have a top reveal I haven't had installed yet -so I took a look. The chrome piece AND the black hard rubber lead (windshield side) strip are one piece. On the rear are three attachment clips spaced evenly along the length and two integral slotted tabs at each end for attachment.

Has anyone had their windshield surround (sides, and top) replated? If so where in the U.S. would you recommend? I just acquired an '05 and the chrome is bubbling which I understand is somewhat common.
